Round 6 – RedBud National – Buchanan, MI – July 1, 2017
It was a great start to the 4th of July Weekend – especially if your name was Eli Tomac. Tomac put on a dominant performance, placing his Factory Kawasaki and Bell Moto-9 Flex helmet on the top spot of the podium in both motos. “This is so awesome, the day could not have gone any better,” said Tomac. “I didn’t want to rush anything in the second moto as the pace was already pretty fast and gnarly. There was a lot of roost and tear-offs being pulled, so I just wanted to do my best to be smart. I took my time and slowly chipped away at the lead and eventually opened up a gap. It feels good to have a clean race and grab another win.”
Tomac’s win now gives him the points lead in the championship series with six rounds remaining.
In the 250 Class, Mitchell Harrison had a breakout performance in his second moto. Harrison inherited the lead late in the race but eventually dropped back to the 2nd position where he finished – giving him his best pro career finish to date. His 7/2 finishes earned him a 4th overall on the day.
Eli Tomac had a perfect Fourth of July weekend at RedBud, posting 1/1 moto finishes.
Mitchell Harrison was racing in front of his home crowd and did not disappoint his fans, placing his Star Racing Yamaha on the podium in second place in Moto Two.
Dylan Ferrandis’ 5/4 moto finishes added up to a 5th overall on the day.
Aaron Plessinger had a bit of an off weekend – especially compared to last weekend. Aaron finished 6th on the day.
