Is it just me, or is any 'real' reporting (other than some cheese-ball press release from the sponsors) missing - again - from TWMX when it comes to the Jason Lawrence shenanigans?

When he pulled his first stunt at Freestone, and then again when had his “conflict” at Red Bud, I only heard crickets from TWMX when I wanted details.  I quickly found myself getting the info from other online MX sites and forums.

To the TWMX staff:  I really enjoy your magazine and feel sorry that you chose to put this idiot on the cover last month, but what gives?  If this were Chad Reed, you would run a bonus, Collectors Edition with cover-to-cover details.

The new TWMX magazine just showed up to my house yesterday, but I'm not holding my breath.

despite the fact that i have slight bias towards transworld and jason lawrence, i really disagree with both of you.. heres why.

1. its not the responsbility of mx websites to explain in detail the conflicts that people get into. its jlaws own personal business and if it happens to get explained in an interview, thats great, but dont expect a good journalist to get in his face 10 minutes after it happened just so the rest of the world can speculate and gasp. -thats what mx forums and tmz.com are for.

2. racerx didnt have anything on their site either and if they had a forum would you post the same thread on their website? because nobody explained it, except for other people speculating or eyewitness accounts on - you guessed it - mx forums.

uhhh.. i used to be good at racing dirt scooters, now i just take photographs.

Yes, but…

As far as RacerX, I don't particulary like their magazine and don't look to it, or their website for information.  That's what I look to TWMX for.

As far as I remember, the ONLY coverage given to either incident on behalf of TWMX was the posting of the team press release, despite probably having reporters on the ground at both events.  Yes, I agree with you about explaining “in detail” about conflicts with these guys (or not) , but somewhere between that and the only info being from a canned team press release, there should be a happy medium.

Would you be as fair to Reed if this was him?  Um…  me thinks not.  Reed crappily snubbed you for an article / photo shoot last year and we rightfully read all  about it.

No, it probably isn't reasonable to jump in his face right after the incident(s), but when TWMX' cover spot and huge article last month asks the question if this guy has cleaned up his act or not - he clearly hasn't - you owe it to your readers to follow up.

Just my thoughts. You still have the best magazine in the business.

and you know what, i think its rad that we can argue like two decent people, because most mxforums i see are just a bunch of people hating on each other without any questions really being answered or talked about..

and yes i was at redbud, but i dont contribute to the stories and its not up to me in the least, even if it was i wouldnt post a news story, thats what press releases are for. what people generally overlook is that you cant just post anything on sites like this, youd be surprised at the amount of flack these guys at transworld receive for some of the most benign news stories/photos they put out there. so its simply a c.y.a. situation, even if it is breaking news everyone wants to know.

and its mere COINCIDENCE that jlaw was on the cover with that story, and then all this stuff went down, but its not fair to the rider/people involved/team to just bust out a speculative letter thats not approved by the rider or people involved.

sorry youre bummed about the lack of that kind of news, but i think integrity comes first even if they did publish a story that contradicts the situation.

I was gonna try not to get dragged into this, but I'll shine a little light on the situation.

As far as Lawrence on the cover:

The brand new mag you see when you open the mail box was finished at least a month before you got it.  The articles and interviews were done nearly two months before you got it.  So when J-Law was on the front of the cover suggesting he'd turned over a new leaf, that was when he actually was behaving.

Lack of details:

Just hang tight and you'll have all the details you guys want from the man himself. ;-)  Obviously they're not the day after the event, but you'll have your questions answered…

Oh… and we're not “reporters” hahaha.

well put.. i often forget that most people dont understand that magazines are ready for print weeks before it actually comes out and all that work is done far in advance, which is why its a coincidence this stuff happened with jlaw RIGHT after his article was published.
