I recently checked some of my local bike shop's in search of a current model yz 250, or any 2 stroke for that matter.   All that I saw were empty spot's with headstones, reading        I diddn't want to go but the ama allowed my 4 stroke brother to take my place.   He cost's more, weight's more, and cost much much more to keep up with me.  All that's made are the blue and yellow.   It's a shame that I had to go and why because compared to my brother I'm just a tad more slow.   You all will soon be begging for me back.  Besides I sound much better than the farting 4 stroke.

Anyways,  I kept racing my two stroke and I have no probs keeping up with and beating 4 strokes.  Unless your track has endless hill climb's then junk your stroker and get back to reality……..BUY A 2 STROKE…….there better bikes more fun… more time riding them, and less time fixing them.    That's all that matters to me.

i kno it sucks that the two strokes are dieing..But its not only the ama's fault. Two strokes are very harmful for the envirment..And with the big push for everything going green, motosports are all going to push there  four stroke models…Yes it sucks..but its for the enivorment

i love my 99 cr250 it;s kicks ass. 4 strokes are lame. it;s easy to beat a 2 stroke if you get the cc'c high enough. why didn't the ama keep the cc's on a 4 stroke to 400, they were competitive then, why didn't they make it where you could have a 300cc 2 stroke?

I'll never let go of my '05 YZ 250. In my eyes its the best machine ever built. Its a very sad thing to see the 2-strokes die off. When I got mine, they just axed the KX125, I really thought '06-'07 would be the last model years. I think freestyle has kept them around a little longer. I can't picture Nate and 199 on thumpers, expansion chambers just look so cool. Long live the oil burn'n braaaaaaapppp.

Haha.. totally agree. I don't mind the four-strokes, but two-stroke are just so much easier and better.

There was/is a statement from RV2 about running a 125 at Steele City. How cool would that be. I would kill to see him put the old two stroke on the line. He would be at such a disadvantage, if he won or made the top five, It would make some real history. The 2 stroke was such a harder bike to ride, I feel like the thumpers made dirt biking easier for more people on the local level. It was such a great feeling to go around the track on my '96 YZ125, WOT, and clear all the big obstacles, while it seems now 250F or 450F, novice to pro, everyone is clearing the obstacles with ease. Maybe the tracks in my area have just gotten easier? Oh well it still feels good to tear it up on the ol'e YZinnger!!!!!

Yeah they should save the two strokes like mx since 78 said as long as the track doesnt have alot of hills and climbs the two strokes dominate. Two strokes have more get up and go and also the power band which the fours dont.

Yeah same i own a 2002 cr 250 and i just love it!!! cant get over that power it gives when on the pipe  unlike my buddies yzf450 its an 08 but i still kinda feel like waiting on that power feel so i am keeping to the 2strokes for sure!

I'll admit, 2 strokes are funner, but when it comes to overall performance and handling, the 4 stroke is the only way to go..I prolly never get rid of my cr125..but now that i have the 2007 yz450, i cant get enough of that spot on power delivery and plush handling, the torque is just amazing..oh well..

Can't deny it, with EFI or without, 4 strokes are amazing. Electrics will be real interesting, electric motors are so much more efficient. Ever play with slot cars!! Thats a ways off though, technology has some catching up to do. In the mean time..braaaaappp.

yeah 2 strokes are bad for the enviroment but so are 4 strokes, and trucks and cars and EVERYTHIING that burns gas to run.  Ill ride my yz250 until its impossible to keep it running.  Of coarse everyone rides 4 strokes because the make more power. the ama let the rules stay at 450cc and 250cc for 4 strokes and thats the advantage that everyone wants, there is no replacement for displacement.   Its like trying to race a drag car with a geo metro.

2 strokes with direct injection and emission management systems are every bit as clean as 4 strokes. But the power delivery just isn't as smooth as a EFI 4 stoke, not to mention torque, which makes you accelerate faster, and horse power which gives you top end pull. From a scientific point of view the 4 stroke is the way to go. For my money in '09 I'd be getting the Kx450F.
