what is going on in the world of motorcross. bubba sits out an extra month of the indoor series because he didnt want to come back losing. chad reed runs back to his home land and may not return to AMA motorcross in the US. and we all know it is because he has nothing for bubba, especially in the outdoor series. and than rumors that bubba is not going to race the outdoor series next year. outdoor is where the whole industry began. guys riding in the woods and deserts of their home states and motorcross was born. these new guys are babies. i dont even care to watch anymore. it is sad.

I hate what is happening too.  Every year I go to Southwick to watch the motocross race but it seems soon their will be none of the top guys soon.  It sucks for anyone who is looking to go to a motocross race in the summer.

Do what the AMA has been considering for a while already, …remove the open class 450 from the MX Class, and replace it with a smaller displacement more fitting the MX Class. 370. The 450 is hurting even the best of the pro's, simply by riding them on the edge. It all take it's toll on the body. More weight, more power, more speed, more damage, with a short time to recover. And, recovery is key at the pro level. It might even mean a shorter racing career. Many of the pro's are seeing this, and that's why they're beginning to focus on MX or SX only.

Racing is LIFE. Everything else is just…waiting.

Sad but true. Top riders are going to race just the indoor series. Someone is already doing it, like K-Dub, Reed etc.  You have to race so many race during winter in Sx, and than just few weeks break and the National series is starting.  You know sport is related with business. Up to 70'000 men, women and kids are going into a stadium, where you can watch at the race comfortably sitted, eating an hot dog and drinkin' beer. How many of them are going to see the outdoor series? If the public isn't going to the show, let's take the show to the public, this is how Sx began. Sponsors go crazy for this, and it's far more easy to set up a TV show in a city stadium than into a far away track. It needs less camera to cover the entire track and so on. A solution could be, as Leon9 said, to combine the two series. There could be two winners anyway, both for Sx and Mx, but you can subscribe to the Sx series only if you run the same number of races in the National. Something like that could be a great solution. Motocross has to live, despite what Tv shows and business want.

Another problem is the 450cc machine powerness.  Be realistic. None of us can ride a 450cc properly, and top riders say it too. So make a 350cc is a good solution ? How long for ? In few years they'll reach the same power of a 450 with much more expensive maintenance due of it's more sofisticated engine. So why not to set a 80 or 70 Db sound limit to 450cc. They will lose some power and we will have quiter  bike to ride (yeah, i know it sucks but we have to) at the same time.      A 350cc would be lighter though…

Whattcha' think ?

As a huge fan of motocross i personally think if james stewart goes to a sx only contract next season he's either pussying out of what could be one of the best championship fights we've seen, u have RV moving josh grant i heard was moving up townley is gonna be pissed off about his injuries so he's gonna be crazy fast, alessi is gonna be better so is millsaps and then if all goes well in europe i think josh coppins is considering the move across the pond. As for the lites next year well i dont need to say names because we know its gonna be huge with the riders we have now but we also have chritophe pourcel returning from injury and we're also going to have the kids who graduated from lorettas ! The racing that we have in europe currently is definatly alot better than your outdoor nationals because we have a different winner every weekend.

So whats with the sx only contracts ?….. You can sum this up quite easily the ama needs to shorten the sx schedules. Its starting to become almost impossible for a rider to have a full season without being injured. The sponsors thrive on supercross because its so easy to advertise and the riders do what the sponsors say its as simple as that.

If you were a professional motocross rider and had the chance to race a sx only season but earn double your money, i'd say its an offer they cant refuse.

about the switching to 350's i think the ama was seriously considering it but they decided against it because it would make it harder for the privateers to compete with the factory boys becuase with the 450's they can get plenty of power out of them at the privateer level.

but i'm going to be pissed if stewart wooses out of the outdoors next year i have been waiting for stewart vs. villopoto since carmichael retired. but one thing is for sure the ama has to do something to save the outdoors cause they are just about to get bettter with the new riders coming in and the riders moving up

Also Moto GP switched their bikes from 1000cc to 800cc and the 800's make more HP.
