Jake Foltz, 15 Whittier, CA Sponsors: Mom and Dad Jake Foltz came out to the Milestone round of the Spring Cup series to contest the very competitive Novice 250F class, lining up in the first moto and taking a wire to wire win. Setting the stage for the second moto, he raced hard through the entire moto, finishing second, but still claiming the overall win in the class for the day. The smooth style Foltz showed while on the track seemed to hide the true speed he was actually carrying through the tricky sections of the Milestone main track. How did you get started racing motocross?
I was about 4 when my dad worked on motorcycles, and one day he bought me a PW50 to ride. That’s how it all got started.
What brings you out to the Muscle Milk/TWMX race today?
I came out for the competition and it is fun! It’s something I’ve done my whole life and there’s nothing like the adrenaline rush you get right before a race.
What is it about motocross that makes you choose it over all of the other sports?
Just the adrenaline rush your get from it, and also the fairness of the competition.
What is your overall goal in motocross?
I would like to eventually go pro, and one day race supercross and motocross as a professional.
What is your short term goal for this year?
Just to do good at the nationals, try to get top five finishes.
Have you raced any of the amateur nationals?
This year I’ve only done the Arizona Amateur Open, but I’m doing World Mini next week.
Are you going to try and qualify for Loretta Lynn’s this year?
I don’t think I will this year, but maybe next year in the B class.
When do you think you will move to the B class?
Not until next year for the 2015 season.
Who has been your biggest influence over the years and given you inspiration for racing?
I would say it is Ryan Dungey, just because he is so clean when he races, and also his personality and how he conducts himself.
What type of training do you do to prepare for the races?
I run, I also ride both mountain bike and road bike a lot and I also just do some weight lifting at the gym.
What other things do you do besides motocross?
I go to the beach and boogie board, and that’s about it really.
