One of our favorite parts of the race season is onboard coverage compiled by the staff at GoPro. As a major sponsor to Monster Energy Supercross Series, the company is able to stick their famed line for Hero4 cameras practically anywhere they want. Lucky for us, they snapped cameras onto Davi Millspas, Cole Seely, and Mitchell Oldenburg for the 2016 San Diego Two SX, the sixth round of the series. Almost every inch of PetCo Park was used for a challenging track that allowed riders plenty of passing opportunities and daring maneuvers. There’s plenty to see in the videos from the main events…
Mitchell Oldenburg made the most of bad gate pick and near incident at the start of the 250 final. The Troy Lee Designs/GoPro/Red Bull/KTM rider was near the back of the pack when rounding the first turn, then used inside lines and aggressive passes to get near the front of the pack within just a few laps.
There were a lot of orange bikes out front at the start of the 450 main event. An exceptional start by Millsaps was quickly dashed away in the second turn, when the BTO Sports KTM rider was ran wide by a pack of fast riders. He spent much of the moto in a battle for position.
Cole Seely charged from mid-pack to second place in just one section. It was like the Team Honda HRC rider hit the rocket button in the rhythm section, and the next twenty laps were practically perfect for a runner-up finish.
Oh, since we screwed up and missed posting the videos from Arizona, we’ve put them on the second page.
