Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Chad Reed earned his first-ever 450cc National win in convincing fashion last weekend at Mt. Morris. We caught up with the Australian to find out more about his mysterious stomach ailment, his thoughts on the championship, and why he is a kinder, gentler, Chad Reed these days.

June 19th, 2009 at 2:30 am
if someone started a 4stroke that close u wouldn't even be able to hear him talk.
June 19th, 2009 at 2:43 am
Alessi please come back!!!! Tape that knee and take Vikinin u should be good. I cant stand watching Reed win!! I dont even watc the 450 unless Short or Tedesco are leading. If Chad gets hole shot its not even worth watching just wait 4 250 class.

? good motocross is good motocross. who cares who it is. i mean i dislike stewart but i watched him cuz hes one of the best motocrossers out there so hes cool to watch. and i mean i love motocross enough to enjoy to watch a good motocrosser do work. and u r pathetic.

Chad reed won the race in convincing fashion because the top three outdoor riders weren't on the gate. I believe it was his first ever on a motorcycle. 250 or 450. It's gotta feel bitter sweet.
June 19th, 2009 at 3:46 am
Before i get flamed. Nothing against Chad, just keeping it real.
June 19th, 2009 at 3:50 am
mmm, Vikinin's are the best
June 19th, 2009 at 4:06 am
Every time Chad Reed wins it's because the guy/s who beat his ass is/are injured. Sorry Reed fans but that's the truth
June 19th, 2009 at 6:06 am
So What! where is everyone else! Short, Donut. Hot Sauce??? Why Cant these guys win?? Because they suck!! Reed is the next fastest guy and good on him! all the other loosers cant step it up. Reed does step it up, maybe hes not the fastest guy on the track but he does win races wile the looser just suck dirt and dnf and all the other bull shit that goes along with it!!!

that two stroke was driving me nuts!
June 19th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Well Allessi would have to also have it if RV was out and RV would have it if JS7 wasnt racing and JS7 would have it cause RC isnt racing and RC would have it cause Stanton wasnt racing and Stanton would have it cause JMB wasnt racing and JMB would have it cause Baily wasnt racing and so on and so on.If you not racing you not in the championship so the winner is the winner. SHoulda coulda woulda but didnt go racing.

All you Reed haters may consider that not the FASTEST guy wins, but the BEST!
and the best rider is the one who gets through the season AND collects most of the points!
It doesn't matter who's out or who has one how many races (or who has one races by which margin…)
June 19th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
I wish Allessi and RV werenot injured. Chad Reed is a dirty rider Las Vegas style!!
June 19th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
the 2 stroke is the best part of the video!
June 19th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
I just think that it's really pathetic that Reed has to keep hatin' on his previous team. Yeah they talked junk about him just as his team talked junk about San Manuel Yamaha, but forget about it! They aren't competing in the MX series, so stop talking about it and get on the top of the box!
June 19th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
lol amen

Im glad people see through Reed's 'sudden mood change' of course hes happy, this champsionship just got 3 steps closer to being his rob. those three steps are JS, RV, and MA800. Obviously hes fast, but when he became a professional and started racing on tv, he accepted the role, a role which will be scrutinized (?) and talked about. And me, being a fan, have the right to say hes a cry baby, and i hate seeing him win/lead races.
I hope either of those two super nice Honda guys can catch a break like reed has.. and by that, i mean reed gets broke. No one can argue they wouldnt love seeing either Short or Ivan get what they deserve. I hope nice guys finish first this year, And Dirty Austrialian riders get boo'd across the country.

People need to shut their mouths. So what if the top three are out? They screwed up. Stewart was the one who signed a supercross only contract, and Alessi (my favourite) and Villopoto both injured themselves. Chad is the fastest who also stays on the wheels, and that's why he has a genuine shot at the championship. Winning races is about being the fastest, winning championchips is about being consistent.
June 19th, 2009 at 10:41 pm
aw c'mon. you gotta love that sound.
June 20th, 2009 at 4:06 am
No offense slot001, but i just dont really see how reed is a cry baby like you say. And its pretty pathetic to wish someone gets hurt…thats just not cool no matter who it is. Hes worked just as hard as anyone else out there and finally has a good shot to win. I would be happy if i was him too. Shorty and hot sauce got a good chance too, but idk if they got what it takes.
June 20th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
You are right RMZ26, he really isnt crying about anything anymore its true, I just still have it stuck in my head and bust it out when I, myself am crying about Reed lol. And I really dont wish anyone to get hurt, I would just like to see shorty and ivan get one step luckier, theyre 3 steps to it already. Honestly, your totally right, Chad works as hard as anyone and can keep it on 2 wheels and get alot of points every weekend. I guess I just like seeing everyone push it as hard as possible, and thats not how you really win championships I guess, even Stewart toned it down the last 2 races in sx to just ensure it went right. Im an 'in the moment' person, so intense racing to me is far more exciting than watching the series pan out, although it is exciting, itd be even more exciting if every week was like a championship. Its a good series anyways, and the races chad has won and led have still been exciting..
June 20th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
So I guess ultimately, theres no reason for me to mind Chad winning.. I guess im just sore about how much different it would be if those three were racing, but they arnt
If Shorty and Ivan can at least win some of those week long championships, ill be happy (:

All Reed haters are stupid. What do you guys want him to do? Just quit because Allessi, Stewart, and RV are out. Of course he's got the upper hand to win the championship. That's because he is the fastest rider on the track now. Its not his fault he's the most controlled rider on the track and isn't hurt. Maybe some of the other riders should take his advice.
June 21st, 2009 at 2:20 am
the only thing i heard there was reed being happy because he got another championship handed to him…and that great noise of the 2 stroke!!!!
June 21st, 2009 at 3:16 am
f#@k u lazyboy
reed kicks ass
June 21st, 2009 at 5:01 am
Yeah everything is just handed to him, he doesnt work his ass off, and is slow. Give me a break, the guy deserves respect. He is one of the fastest riders in the world, damn novices need to keep your mouths shut
June 21st, 2009 at 9:31 am
lol every one saying "reed is shit only reason he is winning is because everyone else is hurt" you guys are so dumb. he is winning because he is the fastest rider that can stay on the bike!!!…your not very good if you hurt your self all the time.
June 21st, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Yeah thats right, no use being the fastest and watchin from the sidelines!!!!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:34 am
that stomach ailment is the same thing that happened to stewart back in 06-07!! that is weird! first stewart, now reid.. and it lasted like 6 months and they couldnt figure out what was wrong with him!! weird! and i hated reed for a while, but not he's starting to grow on me.. and i think he's right. . i think that san manuel team sucks.. they dont let them ride outdoors (notice the reed/stewart pattern, whoever is on san manuel doesnt ride outdoors) and stewart is starting to grow from me and reeed is taking his place.. stewart seems to be getting a little bit cocky and caught up and reed is having funn.. kind of backwards now
June 22nd, 2009 at 1:54 am
I too agree that Reed is the best rider out there. He may not always be the fastest or win all the races but, he is always there, even with injuries. Sure there might of been faster guys than him this year (not counting out the honda guys) but I don't see them on the track!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:13 am
Your an idiot.
June 23rd, 2009 at 9:57 am
To WIN, first you must FINISH REED awsome go the ANZACS haha they are all awsome would smoke any of us blindfolded
June 25th, 2009 at 2:29 am
staying on two wheels is all a part of motocross and winning, ya sometimes you will wreck but reed is the better rider right now for not wrecking! and villapoto and alessi are my favorite riders, but i must say they screwed this one up!!!
June 29th, 2009 at 5:01 am
Reed is cool, I yelled a "wassup Cad Reed!" off the track at Glen Helen and the guy walked up to me and gave me his jersey and hat. I was so stoked that he finally was a cool guy. If he was a dick he wouldnt even be racing.
July 14th, 2009 at 12:09 am
You know, you can argue the "who is the better rider thread" until Hell freezes over… who gives a $hit? All of the top guys are tremendous riders. The top 3: RC the toughest and most determined, JS the fastest and resilient, CR the grittiest and consistent; the reality is "you have to be in it to win it" whether it is a personal contract choice ($), Team decision (SX only), rider injuries, etc. Perhaps from this perspective Reed is with a Team that does MX and SX, he made a personal decision to participate and for the most part he has remained healthy.

Motorcycle racing is a tough and dangerous sport, and at the level the modern riders compete at these days it seems the consistent and safe mode keeps you in the game. I am totally impressed and in awe of JS's speed and "all out" racing but James has had a lot of luck on some of his get offs. I truly hope he stays that way, but you can only play with fire so long before you get burnt. 2009 has been the year of injuries and a lot of gifted riders are sitting on the sideline because of them. So here is to all of the great riders out there that have made a choice to race and keep it on 2 wheels to all of the fans enjoyment
