After deciding at the last minute to compete in the Nationals and working his way back up to the speed needed to win, Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Chad Reed has finally claimed his first National Motocross Championship. With two rounds remaining in the series, Reed has wrapped up the title and he couldn’t be happier about his accomplishment. Before he even changed out of his wet, muddy gear we managed to catch up with him to get his thoughts on his most recent accomplishment.

Holy cow. How long was his celebration? the clock on the wall says 11:15 and the race was over at 4 so thats alot of celebratin. But GREAT JOB REEDY. Also good job Davi doughnut, nice ride in the first moto.. OH yeah, REED IS THE CHAMPION………………..OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All you reed hatersstewart fans know where you can go.

  • ryan39 Says:

congrats chad you deserve it carry it over to supercross!!!! #1

  • christian Says:

    dude earned this title….straight up…good job chad…

  • ForReal Says:

Chad needs to send thank you notes out to a few more people…..Alessi, Stewart and Villopoto for starters. All 3 pretty much out for the whole season. Wasn't Chads knock that he can only win a title when his main comp isn't araound…? Hmmmm. Not saying he isn't fast or deserving ….just that it could have very easily been much different…like next year will be…Nevertheless, I am sure this tastes much better than all the roost that he was getting served in the early rounds. Better show up to defend next year or what will people think…..???

  • cores431 Says:

At the end of the day REED IS CHAMP!!!! We all know those other guys are quick but as Reed says you got to be in it to win it! You cant take away from Reed he to practices and races every week I see it as better management on Reeds be halfe he didn't wreck and take himselfe out of the championship yes those guys did and thats racing buddy. He who deserves to win will win and our boy Reed won with 2 rounds to go! Dont take the gloss off with your negative outlook on life as for Stewart and co how would they have faired if the GOAT was still racing maybe if those boys were able to step up when he was racing he wouldn't of had to move on for a new challenge!!! Don't get me wrong i think all those guys are awesome riders and they all deserve the rewards that come their way! GO REED

  • big boy Says:

i think reed wud of got it together at the last few rounds anyway if villopoto and alessi was their at the end of the day them to riders are out of control

  • Darryl916 Says:

I'm not a Reed fan but I was at Budds a saw him with my own eyes come from 10th to second and close something like a 16 sec gap on Davi Millsaps who had nothing but smooth sailing from a hole shot. He was clearly the fastest guy out there and that doesn't come easy. The guy has heart.

Now I agree that if Mike Alessi, Villipoto, and Stewart were out there it would be a total different story and respect to reed if he took the championship in that situation.

With Alessi grabing every hole shot with Stewart on his fender passing him within a few laps leaving Reed and Villipoto to battle with each other and hold off the Honda riders would be a total different situation for sure.

I'm not taking Chads Championship away but this could have been a totally different scene and a more interesting series to watch.

Congrats to Chad and I wish for next year all the big contenders reamain healthy.

I'm also waiting for Stewart to stomp a mud hole in chat in supercross for the BS from last season.

  • the truth Says:

Didnt you hear about his insurance policy? He thought he was gonna win, wait. He KNEW he was gonna win. He may have started the season out kinda slow but he came around to 100 percent. And they said he bought that policy before Alessi, villopoto went out and before stewart decided not to man up.

  • isaac Says:

Congrats REED, enjoy it while you can cause BUBBA will be in the pic for scross and next outdoor nats unless he gets hurt really bad, but i dont think he will. TWMX rules!!

  • jake Says:

he didnt deserve it, he won becus alessi and vilopotto were out and everybody knows that, but congrats anyways the outdoors are so brutal

  • Josh Says:

REED is the man. Say what you want about Alessi, Villapoto, and Stewarts b!tch a$$. But dont forget at the first round when Reed qualified number one. So its obvious he had the speed to take them all down.
Chad Reed will win the 2010 Supercross title ass well.

  • ananananoymos Says:

i was standin right behind the camera dude when this was shot, legit. i feel special

  • yz250fripper Says:

Congrats to Reed! He deserves it!…..Now he needs to redeem himself and win the 2010 supercross title! And for anyone saying he wouldn't have won if stewart was there…..Stewart does a perfect outdoor season in 08 and then doesn't come back to defend it????…All this supercross only contract talk is B.S. iF He really wanted to race he would have.Reed is easily the most consistent rider out there in the sport and deserves everything he gets!.

  • ryan Says:

he does deserve it because he has the consistency to stay in the season.

  • mx210 Says:

haha shows how some people never give up making excuses. REED WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP. villopoto, alessi, and grant are all great riders, but none of them lasted the season. reed did. thats what a championship is! consistency. CONGRATS REED. YOU DESERVE IT

  • Big Cat Says:

He had no 1 duk'N IT OUT WITH HIM. THE HONDA GUYS ARE ALL WEAK AND FADE. Yes im a chad reed hater.

  • the truth Says:

Stewart's sx only contract is b.s. Reed was talkin about when he was at san manuel and he clda raced if he wanted too. Stewart's pansy a$$ just couldnt do it. Can't wait for reed to whoop stewarts a$$ in sx.

  • mxwirred Says:

how do you know he won because they were out? can u see the future? how do you know, with the way chads picked it up at the mid season, you never know. Any body who wins any motocross title deserves it, you cant even come close to the speed and balls this guy has so take off ur skirt and end ur teaparty

  • isaac Says:

Reed will be chasing bubba all 2010 sx season, gotta be in it to win it.

  • Snowy816 Says:

REED #1 FULL STOP. And if Reed hadn't been sick and had of been prepared Villo, Alessi etc wouldn't have been such favorties. Reed proved his worth when he caught and smoke Josh.. Some comments people make there is no way they race or have raced. Bunch idiots!!!____Reed has heart and speed and he can match that speed to who ever his competitor, he has raced against teh goat in doors and out and gave RC a beat down indoors before.____I am a proud Aussie and proud of Reed go to Des nations and redeam your last ride there!!

If who ever was racing or not has nothing to do with it, If RC was there Villo and Alessi wouldn't be a factor !! Are you also saying Short doesn't deserve second, or Tedesco or Burner doesn't deserve his position??

    Wankers

  • Hoobastench Says:

Congratulations Chad Reed! You are number 1 right now and noone can ever take that away from you. Like so many people above have stated, you have to be in it to win it and you were there all season long. Thanks alot for coming outdoors!

  • the real deal Says:

ONLY REED!!! WINS THE TITTLE AND IS STILL WHINING ABOUT SOMETHING …. HE GOT REAL LUCKY THIS SEASON !!! GO DAVI FRO KILLIN HIM THE FIRST MOTO

  • josh215daniel Says:

i gotta wonder if there are Short haters, tedesco haters or any other haters out there? i bet 99 percent of people wouldnt be saying the same stuff about JS,RV,MA not being there if shorty had won the championship, or tedesco or byrner or any body but chad . Good on ya Chad, u have done us aussies proud, AGAIN!!! we all know he aint a massive fan of the outdoors but he put his head down and made it happen. Cant wait to see u race in Australia this summer.

  • scrub124 Says:

Okay, I'm sick of hearing and reading about this, so I'm going to set the record straight. Reed is a better rider than Alessi and Villipoto. How can you even argue otherwise? I don't understand how it would have been much different. Reed took a few races to get back his "outdoor legs", but once he did, neither Alessi nor Villipoto would have had been able to beat him. Don't forget: Number 1, Reed was sick half the season. Number 2, Reed is a "Rise to the occasion" type rider. Anyone who has been around motocross for a while knows that. All his best results come from some sort of adversity. Stewart wasn't even signed up, so he's not even a factor as far as I'm concerned, and even if he was, Reed still would have given him a run. I was at Unadilla. Ive seen both Reed and Stewart ride, and I think reed would have given Stewart quite a run if he was there. Say what you want. You all know it's true. Congrats Reed. You've got the hardware. That's more than anyone on here has got.

  • scrub124 Says:

Haha. I'm an American, and probably one of those "wankers" your referring to, but I agree with you. Most of the idiots making dumb comments have obviously never twisted a throttle, or dropped out of high school.

  • scrub124 Says:

Killin him in the first moto? Reed Caught up to him when he had a 20 SECOND LEAD. Your one of the idiots I was talking about. Hah…the real deal… that's cute. Did your boyfriend think of that?

  • CRracer176 Says:

Honestly if you don't give Chad credit for this championship you don't understand the concept of racing. He put his heart out there when he knew the cards were against him before all of the injuries occurred. Yet he succeeded better than more champions can even say. Just because he was born to race with freaks like RC and JS should not take away anything from his skill. I was there for his first lights race in the US at Indy years ago and was not a fan but he has proven he is here for the right reasons and if you don't respect that then you as a fan are here for the wrong reasons.

  • aaryn234 Says:

What would people think if he didnt defend his title. They would think he was JAMES!

  • scoll23 Says:

Good Work Chad, its unfortunate that an illness restricted our early season performances I would had liked to see you prove that you are faster outdoors than people3 give you credit for. Next year take Stewart to school and repay him for the disgraceful display of sportsmanship James and his discount race team showed at the end of this years supercross series.

  • reedys#1 Says:

chad put an insurance policy for millions before anyone droped out so f of u hater

  • josh215daniel Says:

that's right, Chad won, better luck next year…CHUMPS!!!

  • jones618 Says:

i agree. he earned it, yes. But it wouldve been waaay different if the other guys were racing.

  • jcb Says:

Dude iam a big fan of Reed , and villapoto and Bubba , come on guys all this guys are super riders , Reed is a super talent rider , and the best is that he have HEART so he deserve it , he earn this title , be wise and and respect all the riders because if you talk shi………t about reed so wheres bubba ? he didnt even race , not saying nothing bad about that he have he own reasons , my point the more crap you send it will go around around and around ….. so URRRAAAAA REED

  • ForReal Says:

Yeah, he was there at the end and, out of the riders left, he is the deserving winner. Sponsors will say that consistency on the way to a title is the way to go……Racers will tell you that winning races and beating your best competition is. Chad will tell you he much rather would have gone out and smoked EVERYONE….and if you think he did, thats up to you. I don't and wonder if he would or could have….thats all. I am sure a piece of him does too. "I have the #1 plate, am I the best…or the most consistent….???" That must suck.

  • swapmoto Says:

    Apply

  • Bullseye Says:

Chad won fair and square. Staying healthy is a huge part of the series. Who gives a shit if Stewart, Villapoto, and Alessi were out hurt. That's there own damn fault. Reed had just as many chances as they did to get hurt…but he did'nt!! Nice work Chad.

  • ForReal Says:

Who cares??…Chad should. And, I agree….Injuries were a HUGE part of THIS series. ASk Chad if he feels lucky that the people who were smoking him got hurt. Noone is trying to take anything away from him…just saying that it is unfortunate that this championship has the same asterisk attached to it……**too bad all the favorites didn't get to race the whole series.

  • mxlenin Says:

shut up jake its theyre fault that they couldt keep on the track chad reed came up on top cuz he could do it even with a sickness

  • devon527 Says:

Now first of all, i am a huge Stewart fan. But Nobody can say Reed doesnt deserve the championship, Reed put it all on the line when even his sponsors didnt have enough money to pay for the motocross season. Yeah his main competitors weren't out there so it may seem like he got off easy… BUT Reed was out there and they werent. Stewart didnt race, and all the other big dogs were hurt, He won fair and square, i didnt like him before the season but things are starting to change, He's got heart and i'll back him up. Congrats Reed you deserve this one.
