Dream Ride | 2018 Suzuki RM-Z450WS Test

Works First Impression Video

@suzukicyles

What do you say when Suzuki offers to fly you out to Japan to throw a leg over and test their factory 2018 Suzuki RM-Z450WS race bike? A strong “Yes!” is the answer, followed by a “Name the date and we’ll be at the airport.” This past week we were given that exact opportunity, and Fujisawa Sportsland was the location for the very exclusive test session aboard Kouichi Fukuya’s race machine. Our photo editor Mike Emery was the lucky staff member to give it a ride, and his thoughts on the day are in the above video.

With the upcoming release of their radically new production model 2018 RM-Z450, this media trip and test session was not only a look at this particular Japanese race bike, but also a preview of what’s to come this month when they officially release the new model via a tour through their factory in Japan. What did we think? We can’t divulge any details just yet, but it’s safe to say the 2018 RM-Z450 is going to be the bike people are talking about this year and there are a lot of reasons to get excited if you’re a fan of yellow dirt bikes. We’ll have plenty more content from the journey to follow, along with a magazine feature of the entire trip/testing session. For now, enjoy our resident Photo Editor and now “official works bike tester” Mike Emery’s take on this rare opportunity! Press play above, and then check out some technical information on the bike below…

**Note: The “WS” stands for “Works Special”…
