Sooo this year Transexualworld Motocross' color is green? Hmm, I guess they realized they blew it on last year's shoot-out winner '09crf450. You could see Lutes dealing with head shake on that first impression video. The new KX …very nice!

  • ROOSTER Says:

I have been a pro mechanic for years and I hardly see any problems with the kawasaki's except for the 2006 KX450F that had some problems with piston breakage, usually when the rider let the piston go too long without a rebuild. I think EFI is overrated though and just makes the bike to complicated. Plus it is making dirt bikes to expensive. A 2010 KX250F is as much as a 2006 KX450F was in 2006. Remember when you could get a 125 2-stroke for 5 grand, now 250Fs are pushing 7 grand, pretty ridiculous. Here is how I see the Japanese bikes in order of the most reliable; Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda. The Good part is that when a Honda blows it only has one camshaft and separate tranny oil, so complete rebuild is cheaper. Yamaha are super reliable and go the longest without top end rebuilds, but the parts are considerably more expensive. As for performance I would rate them in this order; Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha. That's why I like the Kawi's, I think they find middle ground between performance and reliability. The most unreliable bike in the last few years is definitely the CRF250R. I work at a shop that sell all the japanese bikes except the Yamaha. I have no bias for any brand, I buy whatever bike I think is the best for me for that year. One tip for you four stroke riders, the higher you rev the bike on a regular basis the more engine wear results. That's is why 250F motors don't typically last as long as a 450F. One thing I would like to see more bike mags take into account on their shootout winners is reliability, they don't care because they don't pay for bikes, parts, and service like most people do. All the bikes are reliable if the maintained properly, some just need/cost more than others.

IM JESUS AND I THINK CANNONDALE IS GONNA WIN THIS YEAR…AND I HOOKED UP WITH MOST OF YOUR MOMS/ WIFES. I JUST HIT IT AND QUIT IT. YOU CAN FIND ME AT THE LOCAL TRACK IN YOUR MOTORHOME. AROUND ABOUT 11pm OR 12 ROUGHLY. BUT YEAH I THINK PEOPLE WHO RIDE KAWASAKI'S OWN THEM. YOUR WELCOME BUT ONLY FOR FIVE MINUTES- TOMORO.
    OKAY.

  • Jesus Says:

Well she complains but i just tie her down…

  • DGetrud Says:

Thats true ROOSTER. In 2010 KTM s will have a linkage making them the best bikes period. They have strongest engine and infact Cairolli will be racing a De carli KTM 2010. It wont be long before James Stewart jumps on KTM and show lights out to everyone!!!!

  • ROOSTER Says:

KTM's are reliable bikes, with good performance. They are expensive though and the parts can be very expensive, good thing they last. I will believe it when I see James on the orange. I have never liked the feel of them but I know a lot of people who swear buy them. I also like how they are committed to the 2-stroke. I don't know if you live in the US or not but here they are more expensive, and there is talk of the US government charging a tariff on any European motorcycle. Which would make them even more expensive. Hopefully they don't go to EFI to soon in order to keep the cost down. The town I live in our KTM dealer can take month's some times to get parts, same goes for the Husky dealer but much worse. Good bikes though.

  • balls Says:

Lutes, what mapping did you use to get more rev out of your '09? I have an '09 too, and more over-rev would be a good thing. Any exhaust suggestions would be cool too.

  • Brendan Lutes Says:

I used Kawasaki's EFI mapping tool. There are seven different pre-set maps to pick from if you don't want to custom program one yourself. I used the one called Advanced Timing it adds more power all throughout and gives the bike a little more rev. As for pipes, of all the ones I tried on the bike I would have to say I liked the FMF or Jardine the best.

  • Ricky Says:

i had to stop watching the guy keeps on making stupid noises with his saliva and its driving me mad!! seems like such a stiff!!! eerrr we got larger rads, great good for you! industry stiffs!!! just ride the damn thing no one notices the majority of these mods, its just BS, like when toothpaste companys say there new product is 100%better than the other stuff, when really we all know its the same regular stuff in the tube! just a placebo i think, if they keep telling us this bike will turn sharper, we probably will agree or crash!!

  • miike Says:

Foster seems like a cool non-bro guy

  • kawikid721 Says:

are there ever gonna be any of these kawis on the posters!? it seems like twmx is obsessed with hodas suzukis and yamahas…even after the kx250f won the shootout…not a single kawi on the pin up sideof the poster! haha hopefully theyll put at least one on a poster this year…

  • GARY FROM CORONA Says:

save your self some money and buy a 09 450kx , you will never feel the difference any way!!!

  • Pete Says:

i think this bike is sick!

  • gazza Says:

I just bought a second hand crf 250 and have owned it for 3 months and done about 1 hour of riding on it and now you have made me upset and I dont wont to ride it in case somthing goes wrong and I realy cant be bothered changing valves or pistons on it, i'm depressed . Signed Depressed.

  • belliott88 Says:

I've had a CRF 450 since 2003 and it's been by far the most reliable bike out of all my buddies, as well as the cheapest to maintain. I don't work at a bike shop but Honda has been most reliable in my experience.

  • on tha pipe Says:

    very good insight mr.rooster.
boyz 'n blue all the way

  • doogy hater Says:

    why do u do that??

  • doogy hater Says:

    sweet! wanna cookie?

  • Mcgee956 Says:

    Yea behind the Crf250

  • McGee Says:

Youre right on about everything. I personally love the way my crf250r performs. But the crf250 takes alot of maitenence. To tell you the truth though Id rather be winning races and changing pistons and cranks than losing and having a reliable bike. Thats my opinion.

  • Stebo410 Says:

I will say that KTM's are great bikes, the most expensive ones at that. But James Stewart will not be riding for any KTM team, I can promise you that.

  • Nikolas Says:

Look at the head cover gasket, just at the bottom of the 2 half circles, is it me or does it look like theres oil leaking from it?

  • Dosen't Matter Says:
