My 2010 KTM 250 SXF is much better than my 09 KX was… Even without linkage!! Definitely sold!!
September 24th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
the test rider bayo is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet
September 24th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
ktm will sell a motocross bike when they have an alumium frame, linkage, kyb's, efi, and no 11 and 13mm bolts. Sorry to break it down like that, but someone has to address it. A good chain, bars, steel braided lines, black rims and strong power just arent going to cut it anymore at there price point.

LOL at 2:21
The Bayo Squat!!! haha!
September 25th, 2009 at 1:31 am
when is the 2010 shootout coming out???????????????????????????????????????????
September 25th, 2009 at 2:08 am
all it needs is a linkage, the suspension is good exsept for the linkage. oh and it needs efi and a cheaper price then i would buy it.
September 25th, 2009 at 4:08 am
they might not change much but I guess when you have a bike thats as good as theirs you don't need to change much. From what I have rode as far as KTMs the only bad thing is the seat is hard as a rock but they rest is flawless

That dude is fast. Forget testing bikes I would go racing str8 up If i could ride that fast. Plus he looks a bit like Bubba and has some good personality so that should get him some sponsor money easy.
September 25th, 2009 at 4:58 am
then by a japanese bike!
September 25th, 2009 at 4:59 am
Tell that to Marvin Musquin……..Im sure he will agree with you
September 25th, 2009 at 6:40 am
I should have wrote…sell a quite a lot more mx bikes. I also forgot to mention there superior brakes an hydraulic clutch, which truely are very good. You really do get quality parts when you buy a ktm. All Im saying is that it is always the same couple of issues. They could be killing it.
September 25th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
damn bike seems small for bigger riders Bay did you feel cramped on the bike? you look a little big for that bike right?
i ride a 06 525sx and love the bike but only after i installed a 2.50 riser on the bar clamps.
September 25th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
The 2010 sxf is a sick bike, I rode it at red bud during the ktm dealer show and it was by far one of the best bikes around and i've ridden many.
September 25th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Look at how fast and smooth he is hitting those whoops, I say linkage is BS.
Unless your a top 5 pro I doubt you'll go 10 seconds slower a lap because of no linkage…
(Still Brayton recently won a national without linkage and ktm have a 3digit number of championships without linkage…)
September 25th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
I am 6'3 and pretty lanky so I tend to make every bike look small. At the same time, I am used to having to adjust to cramped confines. The bike does feel a bit more compact than the 2010 Kawi's for example, but I think the ergos compliment the bike's handling. Perhaps a slightly higher rise bar would help a bit, but I don't see it as a necessity.
September 25th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Haha. Thanks for the compliments bud, but the innumerable pros who have flown past me would probably say otherwise.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
I agree 100% about the stupid bolt sizes! Plus they are slacking on the frame and efi
September 25th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
just wait till the 350f comes out mid winter
ive got dibs on the first one my dealer gets… new frame, linkage, efi…. and still damn sexy
September 25th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
I completely agree. It would take anything but a top ten novice rider to school you. dont get a big head bud, sponsors want a real rider not some magazine goon thats good with a keyboard and a brochure on what to say about the bike. every test rider says the same stuff every year about the same bikes.
buy a kawi
September 25th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
Haha you're a tool getsundome! That dude would wax you on any bike! That's what i love about these comment pages everyone is a pro and a tough guy til you get your goon ass out on a track! Buy a Yamaha douche bag!
September 26th, 2009 at 3:33 am
Who cares if they have the aluminum frame????? They have proven you DON'T need a bike with an Aluminum frame to have a good platform. Besides even with that STEEL frame they KTM's are the lightest of the bunch.
September 26th, 2009 at 3:55 am
The guy has a nice style, i think he would suit a 450 maybe. Bike is good, same as 09, but i think the price tag is one of the main reasons it wont sell.
September 26th, 2009 at 7:34 am
bayo is a KTM lover!
September 26th, 2009 at 7:36 am
Anybody that buys a newer model bike than previously owned is gonna say that it was better than their previous bike ;P
September 26th, 2009 at 7:40 am
The only thing good about the KTM's are the massive amount of horsepower the motors put out and the hydraulic clutch. Other than that they are very unimpressive. They even look ugly!
September 26th, 2009 at 8:31 am
i love how everyone complains about the KTM because it has no linkage. all you need to do is spend a little more time fine tuning the suspension. As far as the frame goes ya its not aluminum but its still been the lightest bike around for a long time. Ride a KTM before you talk crap. and as the price tag goes there more expensive because there not made with JAP metal.
September 26th, 2009 at 9:36 am
i like that gear……nice…..but that bike does look a little small…is it me….or did they downsize…..
September 26th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
keep those feets on the pegs dood!
September 26th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
The 11mm and 13mm head bolts is strictly due to it not being a Japanese bike. Those bolt heads are standard for the rest of the world. I'm a mechanical engineer and deal with it very often. You wouldn't believe the cost associated in switching to those super convenient 12mm and 14mm. KTM's are already too expensive thanks to a crappy dollar to euro exchange rate.
September 26th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
i think ktm could be the best bike out there if everything came with it like you said. linkage, aluminumframe, etc
September 27th, 2009 at 1:35 am
he looks pretty tall too, which is nice to see when i am a 6'6" mx rider.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:09 am
sheckler should suck it out the utter!
September 27th, 2009 at 6:58 am
im sick of hAVING to watch that stuid milk add with that muppet in it
September 27th, 2009 at 7:29 am
Who prepped the track, it look's awful!
September 27th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
happy to see perris fixed that whoop section
September 27th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
Here in canada the ktm are not more expensive, same as the other. I have just bougth a KTm 450 and i really like it. I honestly think that the rear suspension is one of the best that i have tried.
Try a KTM first and you will see that they are very good bike.
September 27th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
ya
September 27th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
they need to have 26mm bolts for more weight
September 28th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
The printed MSRP pricing of the KTM MX bikes is right in line with the Japanese, give or take a few hundred $'s more or less than the Japanese depending upon which models you are comparing.
September 28th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
the test rider is way to huge on that 250 he looks so goony
September 29th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
yesss!
September 30th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
I dont get why people are saying oh if it had an aluminum frame and efi it would be 95% better. ITS NOT! I garuntee nobody on this entire page would notice at the most a steel frame over an aluminum which maybe weighs 15 pounds more. its retarded. and even stated in motocross action (although im a transworld fan) it says under the likes of some of the KTM models, the steel frame. SO SHOOT THEM they like the frame, if ktms had an aluminum frame, it would be a motocross bike worth 10 grand. And same for EFI, sure, its technology advancing, but its not necessarily 95% better, its just another form of providing fuel for the bike. its less work too, but for 1000, ill keep my 08 carburated honda over an 09
October 1st, 2009 at 1:11 am
If it was red and said honda i might think about buying one!
October 1st, 2009 at 11:58 am
when is everyone gonna get it threw there head all the bikes are so close to the same its down to what color you want ..you dont need linkage its just a different design not better or worse unless your in the pros dont go around talking trash like you know what makes a good bike or a bad bike to anyone whos an A rider down a bike is a bike its how you ride it and what fits you everything else is b.s

My thoughts on linkage..As a former KTM owner, I always noticed the mid corner rear end bounce that never seemed to happen with my Jap bikes. If Honda, Kawi, Suzuki, and Yamaha thought they could do without linkage back in the late 1970, into the early 1980s when bikes first showed up with single shocks and linkage, they would have ALL done their bikes with out linkage. It would have been less parts to manufacture, less to engineer, cheaper to build, less to maintain etc. Since ALL of the top manufacturers and their engineers deemed linkage necessary to change the leverage ratios of the back of the bike as the swing arm travels towards the rear wheel, I would also deem it very necessary. Watch the videos of ALL of the KTMs. there is a mid corner bounce that the back of the bike always does that changes the steering angle just slightly. In a straight line they are awesome. But in a corner, that is another story.
KTM needs to stand for KEEP TURNING MAN! or KEEP TWO MOTORCYCLES (hard to get parts).

dont forget sheckler

I been riding since I was 5. I've ridden just about every motocross styled bike there is. I have owned a 06 Honda 450, 07 kawi 250f, 06 KTM 300, a Husky 250 2 stoke, 87 cr500r, And thats just in the past three years. Every bike I just listed was raced district races as well as GNCC or hare scrambles. I currently ride a 07 KTM 450sx. My opinion is that of all the bikes I ridden my 07 KTM is the best. Why? Because I had the suspenion done by someone that understood what I wanted. All the bikes I list are great bikes for one reason or another, but because the suspenion wasn't set up as well as my 07 450 they werent as good. Lets face it 98% of the people racing cant use the bike they have to the fullest. We can knock every manufacturer for one reason or another, they all have some problems. Really if you havent ridden or raced a properly setup( set up for you) KTM you dont really have a voice to comment with. Just my 2 cents.
