Yesterday at Perris Raceway, KTM introduced their latest 450 motocross bike. Highlighting the revisions for 2010 are a lowered front section of the chassis, new triple clamps, and a five-speed transmisssion. EFI and linkage ill get one for sure. always liked ktm when i was on 85 and 125 but there 450 was always lacking a bit

The KTM bikes are much better than people initially think. Get the suspension revalved and set up for yourself and they are awesome.

KTM's are great bikes, dont get me wrong. But if they actually wanna sell their bikes, then come down with the prices! I mean you definitly wont see me on a KTM at the track. But like I said, they're great and sharp looking bikes.

I have owned several KTM's and my 450 was the least reliable of all of them. I had so many problems out of that bike. The bike was fast but handled like a tank. I replace all kinds of random stuff on that bike. I now ride Yamahas. Not as trick not as fast but they handle good and hold up waaaay better.

All this hooplah about efi. I'm pretty sure no one on here is fast enough to actually need efi. Its kinda like having a trik set of graphics, you don't need it but it looks good.

Haha you guys must not watch the GP's. Max nagl beat everyone on the 450 KTM and Cairolli is gonna be on a Decarli KTM 2010. KTMs are the most powerful MX bikes and fastesrt hands down and with linkage they are just unbeatable. I hope Alessi gets back with KTM so he can smoke racers come 2010

Linkage? Why are you americans always talking about linkage? If Cairoli, Searle, Goncalves, Musquin, Nagl, Simpsson etc. can ride without linkage, then you losers can ride whitout… And EFI? You are not buying these bikes because there is no EFI? I can't believe that guy is KTM's North American Media Relations Manager. He lacks public speaking skills, kept choking on his words and just not smooth at all. KTM, you might want to consider someone who can at least pitch your new bike. Rich did a way better job and doesn't even get paid by KTM!

Yeah because they win alot here in the US… THere are maybe a handful of people worldwide that can use all the power of a 450. So why not get something that is comfortable, reliable and handles well?

KTM are great looking bikes, and the reason why they're more expensive then everyone else's bikes is simply because they're built better, and are true to KTM's Slogan RACE READY, they're contengincy sucks, but other than that I would love to have a KTM and you morons think that it has to have a linkage to be a good bike, not true, you all remind me of my like 5, and 8 year old cousin, you dont like it, even tho you havent even tried it yet. get real and quit acting so childish, its your arrogance that hurts good bikes like ktm and our sport.

I used to be a KTM support rider.. then I caught a 450 on fire a couple years ago on the third lap of a 30 min moto. The bike was like 2 weeks old. Peice of junk. I went and bought Hondas at retail. I like living. And then again who is gonna pay like 9g OTD on a Linkageless carborated time bomb?

KTM has without doubt the best bike out there. they dominate the 2-strokes, and who rides 2-strokes you might say. i don't know if you have heard but there is this place called europe at the other side of the atlantic. they destroy all competitions in enduro. if you want quality tehn you have to pay more, make sense?

There an ok bike, I don't mind them at all.. I believe they should really do something big to put there name out there ! And to show how good of a bike they really are ! I believe the best thing ktm came out with was the 144 sx ktm. Once you ride one of those you don't want to think about a little 125.

That guy is probably like the rest of the KTM possers. They sit at home thinking there the best rider in the world cause they like KTM not knowing how much of a piece of shit they are. Everyone i know in the 85 class i race in say their the best. I haven't seen one KTM win a major championship and Hoobastench is right they have never won a shootout honda has always been out front. And even if their not in front that year i don't see KTM in front of them. The only cool thing about KTM is how much HP they have even though its not a reliable motor.

Sounds great. My 08 450SXF has been great and i'm ready to update. I like the improvements on the 2010 450SXF and can't wait to get one. Love the Hydralic clutch, ease of maintence, build quality and performance of the KTMs. Actually, the retail pricing on the KTM SX-F line is the very similiar to the Japanese MX bikes.

450sxf catch fire in air box. I know of 3 people that had it happen to them , and my 08 .the 4 speed tran was shit always false nuetrals and sticks in 2nd to 3 also valves shims and head wear to quick compared to honda . and they dont turn .sounds like a step in right direction still would not buy one until its efi the only good bit about bike is brakes and clutch. honda engine better

MAN………..I´ve been using yamas since I started (10years+-)…my cousin rides honda and we saw a new 2009 ktm 450……we were stoned..components were much better and finish is perfect, they look better…didn`t ride it but by the looks theyre very very good. I`ve used a ktm supermoto…and there`s nothing compared to those ktm machines…they`re more expensive because they have more quality.

Hopefully they really fixed the front end this year like they say every year. Every year I ride all the new MX bikes at a demo that all the shops put on in my area and I have always thought that they front end has a detached feeling to it. Compared to other MX bikes I don't think the performance is there. They feel fast because the suspension is scary. Plus the price is higher than other bikes. Take the price of a KTM and subtract the price of a yamaha, then spend that extra money on mods of your choice and that would be a fair comparison that Yamaha would win no problem. Also compare the price of rebuilding a Honda compared to a KTM and in some cases its almost double. I know I'm a mechanic at a Husky/KTM dealer and the parts prices can be stupid. I ride kawi even though I would get a discount on a KTM. I like the 2-stroke KTM's though for trail riding and all the bikes are pretty reliable but not any more than a Yamaha. The worst bike KTM builds are the 85/105 they just fall apart. If KTM's are so good then why haven't they ever had an AMA championship?

In europe many people are riding on a ktm, especially in the enduro discipline and Rattray was world champion mx2 last year on it so I think it is a great bike, you should try it

KTM cost more cuz USA taxes them more. In one of the shootouts last year the KTM had the fastest lap time for pro and armature riders but they don't spend the money on ad's like Honda so they didn't win. As far as a AMA super cross or MX championship 90% ride 10% bike, put Stewart on a Gas Gas and he would win

GasGas makes a sick bike too. KTM motors in most of them. They dominate hare scrambles and enduro's. Expensive stuff. I am waiting on the KTM direct injection to hit next year. Can you say green sticker 2 stroke, I know you can. I wish they would come out with a crf150r compeititor so that bike would have a series. That would be sick. a 150 cc 4 stroke with FI. You could do MX, pitbike races, SX, freestyle, Trails, Trials, whatever you wanted. Cool stuff.

NOt sure how the quality is on the KTM's now (as I havn't rode or been around them for quite some time)
BUt 6-years ago(or so) they had issues with durability during races…A friend of mine was full sponsored by them (only ones in the US at the time) and he had comented on them….. THis was PRE-4-strokes though…
and many things change from that time… I can only guess that they have the quality issues sorted and picking a bike to ride is not so much brand, but finding one you can live with….. BRAND is more of a EMOTIONAL THING than anything else…..Until I could ride all brands, and ride all the time,,,I woulnd't be one to comment…

Well I´m a Kawi rider myself (2008 kx250f), but I have to say, that when I tested the full line of KTMs I was pretty impressed.
They come with a 22degree steering angle for 2010. So all their bikes from 125s to 450 turned great and it was easy to hold a steeper inside line even in flat corners with them.
The suspension was also good, because they have a bit stiffer settings in stock than the japs, so I felt really comfortable blizing, and doubleing trough big rollers.
The only thing that felt weird were the ergonomics, KTM runs quite low bars and seat, whitch felt exrtremely weird at jumps, but at everything else they were ok. I believe that I could get used to the ergonomics pretty easily if I wold ride it long enough.
After testing them, I was most of all impressed with their bikes, and above all to the turning capability.
I would no doubt recommend one!
The 2010s are pretty good bikes, take my word.
