After nearly a decade aboard Yamaha equipment, the JGRMX team has made an immediate switch to Suzuki for 2017 and beyond. This is massive for both the independently owned team and the motorcycle brand because it puts even more yellow bikes on the track in the future. In addition to the original three-rider team of Justin Barcia, Weston Peick, and Phil Nicoletti, they’ll bring on two full-time 250 riders.
Because of the last-minute change, the team will sit out this weekend’s race at the 2016 Monster Energy Cup in favor of more testing at their private test track in North Carolina. Patrick Evans managed to join the team for one of Justin Barcia’s first full days of action on the Supercross track. Barcia is currently on tap for the 2016 Lille SX in France next month, while the rest of the team’s full debut will come at the opening round of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series.
