Saturday’s qualifying at the Motocross of Nations in Franciacorta, Italy, is concluded, and the home team leads the way with two wins and a 10th. Antonio Cairoli and David Philappaerts spanked the MX1 and Open-class competition, respectively, while youngster Davide Guarneri rode to a solid top-10 finish aboard his Yamaha in the MX2 division.

I don't think Italy is leading the way - overall qualifying points are like this:
1BEL – 9 Points
2FRA – 10 Points
3ITA – 12 Points
4AUS – 14 Points
5USA – 18 Points

I don't think Italy is leading the way - overall qualifying points are like this:

Quick question. Why did USA bring such a bad team?
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:48 pm
After qualifying and our gate picks being better, Im guestimating we bearly get second, but being a biased american, i just know were gonna take it. plain and simple
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:07 pm
cause villopoto is still out and idk why they didnt get stewert instead of tedesco
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:22 pm
We are not going to win unless we get lucky. Tedesco and Weimer are good, but not good enough. We need Stewart and Villopoto on our team to bring home the trophy.

Cairoli will smoke dungey!
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:53 pm
come on team GB
October 3rd, 2009 at 8:03 pm
Forget Stewart! Forget Villopoto. Let's concentrate on Tedesco, Dungey and Weimer. That's what we have available. Let's go USA!!!
Based on the qualifying tally the best i could figure out was…
1) Belgium = 8 points
2) France = 10 points
3) Australia = 14 poins
4) USA = 18 points
5) Italy or Spain = 22 points (if Italy was 11th on the Open Class)
Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Correction-:
Great Britain 4th, if 11th finish on the 1st MX1 Moto with 17 Points. USA would be placed 5th then.
6) Italy or Spain = 22 points (if Italy was 11th on the Open Class)

I think the best average team for the MX of nations 2009 is Belgium and France and the fastest rider are Cairoli and Phileparts very difficult this year for the Us team to reach Top three

October 3rd, 2009 at 10:09 pm
Italy qualified 1-1. Don't forget you drop your worst score…which in this case was guarneri's 10th place.

October 4th, 2009 at 1:44 am

October 4th, 2009 at 2:25 am
you guys are idiots. we had the 33rd gate pick and still qualified 6th overall. we will be podium contenders. we may not win but Team USA will put in a respectable ride for sure.
October 4th, 2009 at 4:42 am
Yes, the U.S. is in a recession because we didn't send Stewart; true this is..

I hope all you haters are happy now. Team usa once agian kicked butt. All you couch riders out there should be eatin roost now. Just goes to show you how deep usa can really dig. Congrats Dungy, wiemer, and hot sauce.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:21 am
Bubba will smoke Cairoli!
October 5th, 2009 at 8:02 am
Wow, I am glad I was wrong!! I am so proud of Dungey, Tedesco, Weimer, and our country. Shame on me for not believing!
October 5th, 2009 at 8:03 am
We won.
October 5th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
i think this is great site!!!
October 5th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
It wasn't luck, it was skill, and teamwork. The USA has the best riders in the world and this proves it. If Villopoto and Stewart would have been in the race, Europe and all of the other countries would have been smoked! But a win is a win, and our team did great.
