Moto 1 of the Motocross of Nations featured the MX1 and MX2 classes. Home country hero and new MX1 World Champion Antonio Cairoli earned the win, but had AMA 450cc Motocross Champion Chad Reed of the Australian squad on his tail. American 250cc National Champion Ryan Dungey finished a solid third in what was his first-ever MXoN and 450cc-class motocross showing. MX2 World Champion Marvin Musquin was the top 250cc rider in fifth, followed by Great Britain’s Tommy Searle in seventh overall. Jake Weimer of the USA finished eighth.
After the conclusion of this moto, Team USA held the lead!
