AURORA, Ill. (August 11, 2005) ¿ Clear Channel Entertainment¿s Motor Sports division announced today that 12-AMA National Champion Ricky Carmichael, of Havana, Fla., entered the 2005 U.S. Open at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas October 7-9.
Carmichael, the winner of the 2000 & 2001 U.S. Open recently captured his fourth 250cc supercross championship. Last year he made his début at the U.S. Open on his new Team, Suzuki, and finished (2-11) in front of a sold-out crowd.
Currently Carmichael is dominating the AMA Motocross Championships and has won eight of eight events thus far. Carmichael is one of the only riders who have competed in every U.S. Open since 1998. The eighth-annual U.S. Open, which will broadcast nationally on NBC for the second consecutive season, features the world¿s top motocross racers competing for the world¿s largest single race purse of $300,000.
