2014 Motocross Of Nations | Friday At The Track

The 2014 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations is officially underway in Kegums, Latvia. This year’s track is located just an hour south of Riga, the Baltic nation’s capital, and should be one of the most incredible layouts the event has visited in some time. Although very sandy, the Zelta Zirgs circuit is completely different than last year’s German hardpack in Teutschenthal but far firmer than the bottomless sand pit of lommel which riders competed on in 2012. We’ve been in the area for days and have followed riders as they prepare for the sport’s single largest event, with Friday serving as our first look at everything in one place.
As we type this, it is early Saturday morning. The day will consist of practice motos and three qualifying races, all of which will be covered in the hours to come.
Want to watch the races as they occur live this weekend? MXGP TV is offering a pay-per-view package that will show all of the action on Saturday and Sunday, and CBS Sports will broadcast full, albeit tape delayed coverage later on Sunday morning in the United States.
