AGP Racing takes home top two spots at Round 1 of the AMA/WMA Nationals at Glen Helen

San Bernardino, CA (5/10/04) ¿ The WMA kicked off its 2004 season at Southern California’s Glen Helen Raceway this weekend and Yamaha Factory backed AGP Racing riders Sarah Whitmore and Tania Satchwell took home top honors.

Whitmore and Satchwell battled for the lead throughout moto one. With two laps to go Whitmore put a clean pass on teammate Satchwell just after the finish line section and made it stick for the rest of the moto. Satchwell was only a few seconds behind on the rough and sandy track. Both riders had a 10-15 second margin on the third place rider.

On the podium Whitmore praised her sponsors, the promoters and everyone who worked so hard to make the series possible. It was teams first outing on their new four stroke Yamaha YZ250Fs and both were wearing their signature colors of Thor’s new line of women’s riding gear (due to be released later this summer).

Next weekend Round 2 of the AMA/WML Nationals will be held at Hangtown raceway in Sacramento in conjunction with the men’s Chevy Trucks AMA Nationals. Both WMA motos will be on Sunday in front of crowds that were in excess of 20,000 last year.
