Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP Post Race Press-Conference Transcription: Toronto

AURORA, Ill. (December 6, 2006) — Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP post-race press conference transcription from Toronto.

Ricky Carmichael

“It was a great weekend for me minus the fall.

“I’m disappointed that I didn’t give myself a chance to win the race. But, at this level, to come back as far as I did is something I am very proud of.

“I was amazed at my performance tonight. My lap times were great.

“It’s going to be a long and interesting season for everyone with 17 more races.

“Nick Wey got the holeshot, and I was trying to make a move on him going in and out. I knew once I got pass Nick it would be smooth sailing. Unfortunately, I leaned over to much and got a little too far inside

“If I was battling it out for a title, I’m sure James would have beaten me.

“I’m just a fighter; I’m going to go down swinging.

“I’m a lot better on lap times this year than I was last year. My training camp as been going really well, it’s a lot easier for me. Even my attitude towards racing is ten times better and I’m really enjoying it.

“I look forward to next weekend in Vancouver.

“I took a shot and I fell but that’s why there is another race.

“I have a lot of respect for James. I’ve watched him grow up and he’s a great rider. Of course I’ve grown to become close to Ivan Tedesco with him being my teammate. I feel terrible for Ivan and Suzuki. This was his break out year and he worked hard. Hopefully everything is okay.

“If it’s meant for me to win Anaheim, then it will happen. You can’t make anything happen in this sport. You have to let it come to you and do your best to put yourself in the position to win

Chad Reed

“Honestly, I feel good on the bike and I came to Toronto to be consistent and be in a battle.

“Once James passed me, I just tried to come back at him and not let him go. I think that was the difference

“It’s a great start to the season, but we are not going to get ahead of ourselves. I’m excited for the win tonight.

“I’m motivated. I’ve had two years that I’d like to forget, but they’re also the two most important years because I learned so much.

“I’m so happy that I have a race team around me that is so supportive and a lot of fun to be around. I’m just going to try and take that to every race.

“I didn’t see Ricky fall. I actually didn’t know. I was putting in some good laps trying to breakaway from Ricky.

“It was a tough track to ride. It had all conditions. I just tried to be consistent with the other riders.

“A win’s a win and they all feel good. At this point three guys can win and it feels awesome to be one of those three.
