Andy ‘Backstreet’ Jones and Jim McNeil Battle It Out in Auburn Hills

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (January 24, 2004) – IFMA Freestyle Motocross presented by XM Satellite Radio showcased a plethora of talent this weekend in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The two stars of the weekend were Andy Jones and Jim McNeil. These two riders were the only ones in Auburn Hills who busted out the backflip during their runs. On Friday night, Jones went down when he grabbed a little too much front brake, leaving McNeil with the win. Although Saturday night, Andy came back with a vengeance with his consistent run that incorporated several no-handed lander variations and two backflips.

Bryan Dowdy, one of the IFMA rookies, surprised the crowd on Saturday with a one-handed bar hop, a never-before-seen trick in the IFMA. Myles Richmond won over the audience and the whip contest both Friday and Saturday night with his huge turndown. Jimmie McGuire and Robert Distler beat out the rest of the teams both nights in the doubles competition with their synchronized tricks. They showed the true sense of the doubles competition with their tricks mirroring each other down the track.
