Bell Moto-9 helmet, Smith Intake goggles, Leatt Pro Lite chest protector, MSR/Metal Mulisha Optic gear, Gaerne SG12 boots

Rookie Cooper Webb has been one of this sport’s biggest stories, and the MYPLASH/Metal Mulisha/Star Racing/Yamaha rider has the results to back the hype. Thanks to a feature in our August issue, we have all learned plenty about Cooper’s program, but didn’t know much about the kit that he runs each and every weekend. A few quick emails got us the answers that we needed for this installment of Gear Check…

HELMET: Bell Moto-9 Carbon
Color: Black with painted Rockstar Energy logos
SIZE: Medium
PRICE: $549.00

Every rider on the MYPLASH/Metal Mulisha/Star Racing/Yamaha team uses Bell's Moto-9, each in a standard black finish. Rockstar Energy logos are painted onto both sides and the rider's last name is placed on the bottom of the lid. Webb's helmet is a standard medium.

GOGGLES: Smith Optic Intake
PRICE: $65.00

2013 marks the first year that the MYPLASH/Metal Mulisha/Star Racing/Yamaha has used Smith Optics, and the new pairing seems to be a great fit for both. Webb's preferred frame is the Intake, and runs the standard clear lens for every condition.

JERSEY: MSR/Metal Mulisha Optic | MSR/Metal Mulisha Scout
COLOR: Optic – Black/White, Red/Black, Blue/White | Scout – Black/Yellow
SIZE: Small
PRICE: $45.95

Through the team's Metal Mulisha sponsor, each rider is clad in the brand's collaboration gear with MSR. Support from Yamaha necessitates that the team have blue colorways, and MSR makes sets of the Optic in blue to meet the requirements. Vented jerseys are made for the heat of the Nationals, and logos are sublimated into the fabric to reduce weight.

CHEST PROTECTOR: Leatt-Brace Pro Lite
COLOR: White
PRICE: $139.99

Although Webb does not wear a neck brace, he still uses Leatt's Pro Lite chest protector. Webb runs the chest protector as is, and does not drill holes in the front panel to increase air circulation. Custom printed graphics are laid on the front and coordinate with the color of the moto's gear, and the Mulisha logo is placed in the same area as it is on the jersey.

GLOVES: MSR/Metal Mulisha Optic
COLOR: Red
SIZE: Medium
PRICE: $32.95

The MSR/Metal Mulisha Optic glove is fairly basic, with a Velcro wrist closure, sublimated graphics, and a single patch sewn to the top, and Webb wears a medium. The only request that Webb has is that he wears only red gloves, no matter what color the rest of his gear is.

PANTS: MSR/Metal Mulisha Optic | MSR/Metal Mulisha Scout
COLOR: Optic – Black/White, Red/Black, Blue/White | Scout – Black/Yellow
SIZE: 30
PRICE: $149.95

The chassis of both the Optic and Scout pant are high-end and feature every component that a professional would need, including stretch panels and high-quality leather knees. Optic pants are made in blue to meet Yamaha's requirements, and every pant has MYPLASH and Yamaha logos sewn onto the back of the legs.

BOOTS: Gaerne SG12
COLOR: Black, White, Blue
SIZE: 8
PRICE: $589.99

With its bootie-less, hinged design, Gaerne's SG12 offers plenty of mobility while maintaining support. A number of size eight boots are kept on hand for Webb and like his chest protector, lets him match the color of the boot to the moto's gear.
