Tim Ferry was MIA from Friday practice at Anaheim 3, but he had a good reason for his absence. He was out at the Yamaha supercross track, getting dialed in on a YZ250 two-stroke, which he’ll mostly likely be riding in Saturday’s practice and Saturday night’s racing.
Reportedly, Tim crashed a couple times during practice this week on his YZ450F, including at least one where the bike hiccuped and bucked him off. That led to a very strange incident, where while Red Dog was at the hospital getting checked out, Yamaha technicians were straightening his bent YZF. On a test ride to check out the bike, an undiagnosed cracked throttle tube caused the throttle to stick, causing another big crash for one of the mechanics.
Tim currently sits in third spot in both the AMA and World Supercross GP standings.
