WASHOUGAL, Wash., (July 27, 2006) — Racers don’t get to the top of the MX pro ladder — even Pacific Northwest greats like Chuck Sun and Ryan Villopoto — without some serious sponsorship help along the way.
With that in mind officials at Washougal wanted to thank the sponsors of the Northwest Sponsors program that have helped the young professional racers from that region with advancing their careers. This program includes riders, in addition to Sun and Villopoto, such as Rick Burgett, Eric Eaton, Ryan Huffman, Jason McCormick and, most recently, Josh Hill.
“Our Northwest Sponsors program has been very successful in the past years helping our local privateers compete at a national level, said Washougal spokesman Brian Barnes. “Our intent is to provide these riders with the resources to work their way up the ladder like Chuck Sun and Ryan Villopoto have.
This year sponsors including including Motosport Outlet, Motosport Hillsboro, Electrix, Thomas Auto Sales, Terry’s Cycle Center, Puyallup Power Sports and California Splicing & Testing have donate cash prizes to the top up-and-coming pro privateers from the region. This year the aforementioned companies will award $1,300 to each of the top five overall finishers in the combines Motocross and Lites classes – totaling $6,500 in cash prizes to non-factory/satellite team racers from Washington and Oregon.
“We’d definitely like to say ‘Thank you’ to all these contributors for helping make this program possible, said Barnes.
