Highly-Touted Rookie Ryan Villopoto Arrives This Weekend With Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team

First-time MX National racer possesses impressive amateur competition record 

CARLSBAD, Calif., (Aug. 19, 2005) -- Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki announced today that well-known amateur motocross star Ryan Villopoto (Poulsbo, Wash.) will pit out of Mitch Payton’s Pro Circuit hauler this weekend and compete in his first MX National pro race at Binghamton’s (N.Y.) Broome-Tioga Sports Center.

A former national and international champion, Villopoto was most recently was awarded the AMA’s Horizon Award, naming him the outstanding racer at this summer’s AMA Amateur National Championships, aka “Loretta Lynn’s.

Villopoto, who just turned 17 last week, has signed to race for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team for the remainder of ’05 and 2006.

Mike Alessi, who won High Point, finished fourth at RedBud (125 class) and is out of contention for the Monster Energy Triple Crown of Motocross.
