A new organization designed to help benefit our sport is being formed by a group of women who have their roots in the professional Motocross and Supercross circuit. “Our yet un-named organization is open to any mother, wife, sister, grandmother, girlfriend or woman who is associated with our sport on the pro level of the Motocross/Supercross circuit.”, said Sarah Voss, Membership Director.
Shirley Short, Co-President explained, “The goal of the organization is to bring together women of our sport so, as a group, we can help provide financial support to the Asterisk Mobile Medial Unit, Motor Racing Outreach, The Clayton Foundation and Road2Recovery and others. We also plan to support racers or crewmembers that suffers an injury or tragedy as a result of participation or preparation for a professional Supercross or AMA Motocross event.”
Co-President Sharon Richards added, “We believe the timing is right for a group such as this. It’s a wonderful opportunity to promote good will and fellowship among the racing community and strive to represent our entire sport in a beneficial way.”
The membership drive begins with an organizational meeting from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, September 6th at Steel City under the Parts Unlimited tent (near the pro pits).
Projects already in the works include a cookbook of favorite recipes from riders and their families, and a Supercross series kick-off brunch in January.
