Monday Kickstart Presented by ONE Industries – TWMX SLAM

The 2010 TransWorld SLAM and Industry Cup descended onto Milestone Ranch MX Park this weekend for two days of riding, racing, and trackside nonsense. The Industry Cup got things started on Friday, with 18 teams comprised of moto industry employees going to battle in a 3-moto format, much like Motocross of Nations. Each team competed for the 3-foot Tretta-Motoda Cup and, obviously, bragging rights for the entire next year. The DEFT Family team, made up of Logan Darien, Andy Bakken, and Brian Foster took home the Cup, after a close win over Team FMF. The EKS Brand team rounded out the podium.
From there, the SLAM switched into gear on Saturday, welcoming the public in for a free ride day and opportunity to watch the SLAM Pro Race at the end of the day. The SLAM race, which TWMX introduced last year, is bracket-style and pits two riders in a two-lap one-on-one battle. What started as a field of 18 racers, came to a climactic peak with a final dash for the cash between Geico Powersports Honda’s Wil Hahn and Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda’s Cole Seely.

The Kids Learn to Ride area was a big success...at least for the kids. There were probably a few parents who had trouble dragging the kids back to the car at the end of the day.

Unit Clothing's Tony Dandrea had this bad ass helmet painted up for team rider Austin Politelli. The fast 15-year-old hung tough in the TransWorld SLAM, displacing local pro Nick Schmidt in the first round of qualifying. Look closely, and you'll notice that this is an early Bell Moto 9, complete with removable helmet pads that are held in by magnets. Trick!

New Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Broc Tickle and his fiancee, Jessica, were on hand all day at the TransWorld SLAM. Tickle was cutting some very fast laps during the open practice sessions in the morning, but he elected not to compete in the SLAM because of the limited amount of time he has on his new KX250F. Instead, he stayed to root on his good friend Sean Borkenhagen.

Oakley's tent at the SLAM was pretty sweet. They were even kind enough to make 500 sunglass bags with our SLAM logo on them for giveaway. A couple lucky editors also got a pair of sunnies with the TW shield etched into the lens. Dope.
