Monster Energy & Kawasaki Create ‘Triple Crown Of Motocross’

Popular energy drink and Kawasaki puts up more than $50,000 in potential cash and prizes for any athlete that can sweep High Point, RedBud and Steel City rounds of the AMA Motocross Championships

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 17, 2005) —  The National Promoters Group (NPG) announced today that Monster Energy Drink will sponsor the Triple Crown of Motocross — a $25,000 bonus to any racer who can sweep the High Point, RedBud and Steel City rounds of the 2005 AMA Motocross Championship.

In addition to the sizable bonus opportunity, Monster Energy — in cooperation with Kawasaki and Pro Circuit — will award the top privateer placer in both 125 and 250 classes a factory Monster Energy/Kawasaki/Pro Circuit KLX 110 (valued at $3,000) while also awarding an additional $500 in cash to the top privateer at each race (both classes). Also, at the Steel City round, Monster Energy will award an additional KLX 110 and another $500 in cash to the top overall privateer finisher in each class. That’s eight custom Kawasaki/Pro Circuit mini bikes and $4,000 in cash!

“As if the racing wasn’t going to be exciting enough this summer, Monster Energy has come to the table and offered the racers even more incentive to pull out all the stops in pursuit of the top podium spot, said RedBud’s Amy Ritchie of the NPG. “So fans will have to keep one eye on RC, Reed, Windham and Stewart and Company, and the other on the top privateers who will be racing just as hard through the checkers for that extra 500 bucks!

THIS JUST IN: In addition to the eight KLX 110s given away to the top privateers, Monster Energy and Kawasaki have kicked in three more (one for each round) so that a lucky fan walks away with a brand new KLX 110 at each of the three triple crown races.

Monster Energy, which also sponsors the Kawasaki/Pro Circuit team, has been involved in the great sport of motocross for several years now. Synonymous with the action sport movement, the Monster Energy ‘Rrrippped Claw’ logo can be seen nationally from one end of the action sports spectrum to the other.

“Monster Energy sees motocross as the pinnacle of action sports, said Scott Sepkovic of Crown Athlete Management Group. “The Triple Crown of Motocross is Monster Energy’s way of giving back to the sport at both the pro and privateer level. And we’re excited about the opportunity to align ourselves with such great motocross venues as the NPG’s  High Point, RedBud and Steel City rounds.

The dates for the Monster Energy Triple Crown of Motocross are:

  • May 29th — High Point Raceway, Mt. Morris, Pa.
  • July 3rd — RedBud Track ‘n Trail, Buchanan, Mich.
  • Sept. 4th — Steel City Raceway, Delmont, Pa.

Note: In the event of a tie, racers will split the Monster Energy Triple Crown bonus. And if nobody sweeps a class, the racer with the most points out of those three rounds will receive $5,000 (again split, if necessary, if there’s a tie).
