Muscle Milk TWMX Spring Cup 2014 Round 5: Competitive Edge MX

The 2014 Muscle Milk TWMX Spring Cup is officially in the books. A total of five rounds at some of Southern California’s best motocross tracks is what the Spring Cup was made of and every stop could’t have been any more fun. Competitive Edge MX Park was the fifth and final round and the high desert dirt held up pretty well considering there was a few hundred racers ripping around it all day.

This little guy was the lucky winner of the 2014 Yamaha YZ85. We overheard him saying that that bike came just in time for him to move up to the 85 class!

The final round of each series is even more exciting than prior race days because that’s when all of the prizes from the amazing race series sponsors are handed out to all of the top finishers in each class. And to make things even more exciting, Yamaha was generous enough to donate a ’14 YZ85, ’14 PW50 and a generator to raffle away to three separate winners. Vendor row was another place with the goods. EKS Brand Goggles had their line of goggles and accessories, as well as a few other new products. FMF was on deck with some cool products and the same went for ODI and Etnies.

Another one of the lucky winners from this weekend’s Yamaha raffle. Hopefully we can get a Vet 50cc class up and running for this guy to ride his new bike.

In addition to the 2014 PW50 raffled away courtesy of Yamaha, we awarded another lucky racer with a brand-new 2014 YZ85 that will keep him in competitive through the rest of the year.

The weather was nearly perfect as the heat stayed to a minimum, however, the wind did do it’s usual and decided to pick up a bit, but that didn’t stop racers from putting down those hard, fast laps. Probably one of the fastest and most consistent riders this round was Yamaha’s Ryan Surratt. Surratt entered two classes-250 and 450 Intermediate and swept each and every moto and finished with commanding leads. Another consistent rider was Bryce Harkey. Harkey put on an absolute clinic this weekend as he won both motos in 250A and Pro-Open. Tallon Lafountaine was another rider that ended up with some great moto finishes. Lafountaine took the overall in Schoolboy thru 17, finished with a second overall in 250B, but was hit with some bad luck in the second moto of 450B as a rock blew out the lens of his goggles and then a crash in the latter part of the race ended his day early. Buddy Wentworth went 1-1 in Open (non-Pro), Enjeny Mikhaylow was another Pro to sweep a class-450A and Chase Felong and his screaming 125 were the overall winners of the 125 2-stroke Open class.

Bryce Harkey was on a mission this weekend as he finished with two overall finishes. Not only did he get the overall, but swept every one of his motos.

Yamaha’s Ryan Surratt was another rider to have an exceptional weekend. Surratt put on a clinic in both 250 Intermediate and 450 Intermediate by winning both motos in each class. Not bad for a day’s work!

We hope to see you at the opening round of the Summer Cup which will be held at Milestone MX Ranch on June 8th. See you there!
