New Date Confirmed For Troy

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (July 16, 2003) – The AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championship event originally to be held at Kenworthy¿s Motocross Park in Troy, Ohio on July 12-13 has been moved to Sept. 6-7. The original date for the event was postponed due to excessive rains and flooding in the area.

According to Merrill Vanderslice, AMA Pro Racing director of competition, alternative dates were considered but ultimately the Sept. 6-7 date was determined to be the best option. “We discussed holding the event on the open dates of Aug. 2-3 or Aug. 9-10 but chose September,” said Vanderslice. “This will give the event¿s promoter, Don Kenworthy, ample time to recover from the flooding conditions he experienced at his facility.”

At one point, the track and nearby grounds were under nearly two feet of water making holding an event on its originally schedule date an impossibility.

The rescheduled event will now be the 2003 season finale.
