Pastrana out for round 10 in New Orleans

American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) today announced that Team SoBe Suzuki factory rider Travis Pastrana will not compete in Round 10 of the AMA EA Sports U.S. Supercross Series on Saturday, March 16, 2002, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

Pastrana is suffering from a chronic sinus condition, and will be operated on in California this week. Doctors confirmed that the surgical procedure is minor, and expect him to recover in time to compete in the Round 12 St. Louis race on April 6, 2002.

“We have every indication that Travis will recover quickly from this procedure, said Mel Harris, vice president of ASMC’s motorcycle/ATV division. “He obviously regrets missing races, but knows that sitting out to ensure a full recovery is the best course of action.”

Last year’s 125cc Eastern Region Supercross champion, Pastrana also won gold medals at the 2001 Gravity Games and X Games. This year marks his third season racing a Suzuki RM250 for Team Suzuki.
