AURORA, Ill. (May 15, 2003) – Yamaha privateer Keith Johnson, of Albuquerque, N.M., capped off his season by winning the Nissan “Riding to a New Frontier privateer award. In doing so, Johnson was awarded a 2003 Nissan Frontier truck.

“Riding to a New Frontier” Nissan Privateer Program:

  1. Keith Johnson, Albuquerque, N.M., Yamaha, 251
  2. Ryan Clark, Albuquerque, N.M., Yamaha, 223
  3. Damon Huffman, Canyon Country, Calif., Honda, 124

The race for the Frontier stayed hot from the moment the gate dropped in Geneva, Switzerland at the start of the season. Clark and Johnson set the stage to award the winner at the final round of competition in Las Vegas. Heading into Las Vegas, Clark trailed Johnson by a mere 10 points. A first turn pile up collected Clark in the last chance qualifier, forcing him to sit out of the main event. By not qualifying for the main event, Johnson earned the truck and top privateer honors.

“I hated to see Ryan Clark go out like that, said Johnson. “He is a good friend on mine, and he gave it his all. I will say it took some pressure off of me.
