Over 150 riders showed up to participate in the annual Specialized A1 Ride Daze.

Specialized Bikes has long been a huge supporter of motocross and Supercross, and many of our sport’s elite rely on Specialized bicycles to train on. For five years now, Specialized has hosted the A1 Ride Daze mountain bike group ride in conjunction with the Rock N Road Cyclery chain of SoCal bike shops. This year, a long list of racers showed up to join in on the fun: Jason Anderson, Chad Reed, Alex Martin, Jeremy Martin, Ryan Dungey, Wil Hahn, Jessy Nelson, Marvin Musquin, Tyla Rattray, Phil Nicoletti, Justin Brayton, Christian Craig, Michael Byrne, Gautier Paulin and Dean Wilson.

“We’re all big motocross fans at Rock N Road,” said Rock N Road Cyclery founder and owner Matt Ford. “The A1 Ride Daze is always a great fun way to kick off the new year.”

The ride is led by former 125, 250, and Supercross Champion Johnny O’Mara, who has gone on to win eight Cross Country National Championships on mountain bikes since retiring from motocross racing. “It’s been an honor for me to be the official trail boss for the A1 Ride Daze for Specialized and Rock N Road Cyclery! I get so much satisfaction seeing so many great people and top athletes support my ride, and it’s awesome knowing that I can count on them being there every year no matter what. A huge thank you to everyone that makes this event stronger every year.”

Normally held on O’Mara’s home trails in the Aliso Woods Wilderness Park, this year’s A1 Ride Daze was moved to Santiago Truck Trail and The Luge Trail in the Santa Ana mountains due to the heavy rainfall in the days preceding the event. Conditions were prime on the 14-mile loop, and a great time was had by everyone on hand. If you missed today’s ride, keep your eyes peeled in the weeks preceding A1 in 2016 for the next one!
