Team WBR Suzuki rider Sipes Down for Balance of Supercross Season

BAKERSFIELD, CA – January 26, 2006 – WBR Team Owner Brad Williams announced today that their up and coming rider Ryan Sipes will be out for the rest of the Supercross season due to injury.  He crashed in the whoops in practice on Friday before Anaheim Two breaking the bones across the top of his foot.  Ryan had surgery on Tuesday to repair the damage. The doctors feel that Ryan will be not be able to race for at least six to eight weeks.

WBR Trainer Todd Jacobs explained: “We will be working within the context of the medical mandates and not rushing Ryan back onto the track before his full term of recovery.”  A full rehab program has already been outlined to smooth his transition back into racing.

“Injury is a very real part of the game,” Williams commented.  “I know that Ryan will be back stronger than ever.  He has a very supportive group behind him here at WBR.”

Sipes is upbeat and positive about his comeback in the spring.  “I am going to take as much time as I need to recover and then be ready to go out and win a couple,” Sipes said.

Ryan Sipes, although suffering an inconsistent beginning to the season, is considered to be one of the rising stars in Supercross/Motocross.  Injuries such as this are usually just a short-term setback in this sport.  Look for Sipes to come out strong in the outdoor Nationals.
