Trek Bicycles Announces New Sponsorships

Already renowned for sponsoring five-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong, Trek Bicycles is proud to announce the sponsorship of three of the biggest heroes in motorcycling today. The trio includes champions from diverse fields; four-time AMA Superbike champion and 2003 Cycle News Rider of The Year, Champion Mat Mladin, WORCS national champion Ty Davis and perennial MX hero, Ryan Hughes. “With Lance as our inspiration, we wanted to align ourselves with athletes who stood out for their sense of courage, dedication and physical prowess,” said Trek Brand manager Zapata Espinoza. “We think that among motorcycle racers today, Mat, Ty, and Ryan reflect those standards better than anyone.” Both Mladin and Hughes were individual sponsors while Trek is supporting the entire Ty Davis off-road team which includes Nathan Woods, Ryan McIntyre and Andy Jefferson. When it came to bikes, Mat and Ryno knew what they wanted right away – the OCLV carbon fiber Trek Madone 5.9 road bike just like the U.S. Postal team rides. Being the quintessential off-roader, Ty got his hands on a Liquid 35 trail bike, but we introduced him to slick tires with an aluminum/OCLV 2300 road bike.
