Lake Elsinore, Calif., (May 6, 2005) The Unbound Energy/MDK Motorsports team has signed on 21-year-old WMA contender Sheena Patterson. Sheena will be pitted out of the team truck at the five WMA rounds that take place in conjunction with the Prequel at Glen Helen (May 15), the Hangtown MX National (May 21-22), the Colorado MX National (July 23-24), the Washougal MX National (July 30-31) and the Steel City MX National (September 3-4).
¿We didn¿t want to ignore 51% of the population,¿ said team owner Mark Kvamme. ¿We think women¿s motocross has come a long way, and we want to help further the women¿s motocross movement. Sheena is coming back from injuries last year, and we¿re proud to have her on board with Unbound Energy/MDK Motorsports. She¿s a real pro. This also goes to show that Unbound Energy is for women too.¿
Sheena will run WMA National number 6 in the 2005 series.
¿I met Mark at a local track in Northern California and got to talking, and he said he was interested in signing a girl, and he picked me,¿ says Sheena Patterson. ¿My shoulder is 100% and I¿m ready to go race this year. I really want to be top three and be in contention for the title, and I want to win a few races. I just want to thank Mark Kvamme and the Unbound Energy/MDK Motorsports team for this opportunity. This isn¿t only good for me, but it¿s great for women¿s motocross to have people like Mark and team manager Danny Paladino involved.¿
