Your message board discussions have been brewing for months, as you’ve argued with a faceless screenname from a faraway place. You have your picks on who will take the 250 and 450 victories Saturday night, but how about the people behind the scenes? While at Anaheim Press Day, we asked members of the press, brand representatives, agents, and mechanics on who will start the season off with a win….

250 Class

Many expect Eli Tomac to pick up right where he left off, as the defending 250 West Supercross Champion garned a dominating majority of votes. Zach Osborne and Blake Baggett tied for second, while Ken Roczen was the only other rider to earn a nod.

Eli Tomac dominated the polls, as the Geico Honda rider and defending 250 West Coast Champion took 77-percent of the vote.

1. Eli Tomac – 77%

2. Zach Osborne – 13%

3. Blake Baggett – 13%

4. Ken Roczen – 7%

450 Class

“It is Villopoto’s to win until something happens.” A variant of this was stated by numerous people, and with that, Ryan Villopoto is the top pick for the 450 class. If he takes the win on Saturday night, it will be his third straight at the opening round. Fun fact? Both times RV started the season off with a win, he has gone on to win the title. James Stewart is the second favorite with 20-percent votes, while Chad Reed and Justin Barcia tied with seven percent apiece.

No surprise in the 450 class, as Ryan Villopoto is expected by many to take his third-straight A1 opener this weekend. RV took two-thirds of the vote.

1. Ryan Villopoto – 66%

2. James Stewart – 20%

3. Chad Reed – 7%

4. Justin Barcia – 7%
