WMA Assesses Rider Penalties

(August 8, 2006) Bend, OR: The Women’s Motocross Association announced today that Jessica Patterson and Tarah Gieger have been penalized for actions at Round 4 of the Hitachi AMA/WMA National Motocross Championship.Patterson has been docked 10 championship points for engaging in a fight with another rider while still on the track after the first moto and fined for her mechanic engaging in fight at the meet. Geiger has been fined for one of her managers engaging in a fight at the meet. Additionally, the two riders will receive a 12-month probation.

The decision to penalize the riders came after careful review of statements from eye-witnesses, track crew, and discussions with AMA staff. For more information visit wmaracing.com.
