Women to Race the U.S. Open/World AX Finals at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas

(September 28, 2005) ¿Bend, OR¿The Women’s Motocross Association reports that there will be women’s classes for the first time at the U.S. Open of Supercross/World Arenacross Finals at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, NV. The women will be part of the Sunday’s race program.

The WMA assisted Clear Channel Arenacross early this year in developing women’s qualifying classes for the World Arenacross Finals. The women amateurs qualified through Arenacross Regional Qualifier events and the women pro’s were invited based on their overall finish in the WMA Championship.

Headlining the group is 2005 WMA Championship runner-up and 4-time Loretta Lynn’s Champion, Sarah Whitmore. Jessica Patterson and Tarah Gieger are both recovering from injuries and not racing, but they will be around to watch the U.S. Open and support the women on Sunday.
