The 2014 Utah MX was the perfect conclusion to the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. A battle for the title between two teammates went down to the final moto of the year, and a fan favorite claimed the first overall victory of his career. While we could rehash the details of the day in this post, we’d rather direct you to the race report we’ve already posted on the day at Miller Motorsports Park.
Finding riders in the pit area post-race was a breeze, as many milled about before heading to the celebratory banquet taking place at a suite on the property. We spent hours in the pit area talking with racers and team personnel as they unwound from a long twenty-nine weeks of racing, and have compiled one of the largest installments of “How Was Your Weekend?” posted all year. In the video, you will hear from Chad Reed, Justin Brayton, Ryan Sipes, Andrew Short, Fredrik Noren, Brett Metcalfe, Eli Tomac, Ryan Dungey, and newly crowned National champion Ken Roczen. Unfortunately we missed talking to race winner Trey Canard, who swept the day, but hope to hear from the Team Honda Muscle Milk rider at some point in the week.
We extend our congratulations to Ken Roczen and the Red Bull KTM for taking the championship in Roczen’s rookie season, and from what we’ve seen, the post-race party was incredible.
Also, thank you to Ryan Dungey for taking the time to speak on camera after a difficult day. The Red Bull KTM rider not only saw the championship slip away to a rival, but to his teammate as well. Gracious in defeat and remarkably congratulatory to Roczen for the win, it showed the mark of a true sportsman.
