The final big offseason event, the 2017 Geneva SX, is set to take place this weekend at the Palexpo in Switzerland. As part of the French SX Tour championship, the race has a list of full-time competitors and a few special participants that are selected by the promoters. Swiss native Arnaud Tonus is one of the bigger names on the pre-entry list for the race, but the Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP rider has announced he will be forced to miss the race due to a concussion he sustained in a recent practice crash.
The Geneva SX is a race that in the past helped Tonus land on the radar of American teams, which landed him a two-year deal with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki. After a rough go in the United States, Tonus returned to Europe and is a full-time competitor of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross World Championship. At the 2016 Geneva SX, Tonus made his debut on the Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP bike.
Although he will be unable to race, Tonus has said that he will be on hand at this weekend’s race.
Sad to announce that i won't be racing @supercrossgeneva, i had a pretty big concussion in practice a few weeks back and i really hoped that i could be riding but i'm still not fit enough. I will be there to sign some autographs and take some pictures with you guys.
