Friday kicks off day one of competition at the 2017 Mini Major, presented by Seven MX. Last year, GEICO Honda’s Carson Mumford came away with several moto wins in the Supermini classes at the Mini Major, but he will not compete at this year’s running because he recently made the jump to big bikes. “I got to hang out with Malcolm Stewart a bit at Loretta Lynn’s this summer,” said Mumford. “And one of the things he stressed to me was that it was always good to give back to the sport when you can. He was at Loretta’s leading all the racers out on their parade laps, and I though that was really cool.”

That said, the brand-new 250-class racer will be on hand at Milestone MX Park Friday morning to lead out the short morning practice sessions aboard his GEICO Honda CRF250R. “I had a lot of fun at last year’s race, and I know this one will be even bigger and better,” he said. “I am looking forward to checking out the racing action and also to cheering on Hunter Yoder, my new teammate.”
