Ankle Injury For CR22

Details are scarce at the moment, but it sounds like Chad Reed may be sidelined for the 2017 Red Bull Straight Rhythm due to an injury sustained in practice on Friday. Per a few Instagram reports on Ellie Reed (Chad’s wife) and Mike Gosselaar (Chad’s mechanic), the issue resulted in a trip to a local hospital for further evaluation.

We’ve talked to a few people that were at the track on Friday, and it sounds like Reed over-jumped a triple and injured his ankle or leg.

This is a major setback to Reed, as he is without a set plan for the 2018 race season and stated in an interview with Racer X earlier in the week that he did not spend the summer in the saddle of a motorcycle.

We’re on our way to the track now for the race, so this post will be updated as we learn more.

UPDATE 10:36 AM | Reed has confirmed that he will miss today’s race after yesterday’s incident. Per his post on Instagram, Reed overjumped a section and went into a transition between jumps, which bottomed out the suspension and injured his ankle. Reed will visit an ankle specialist to find out the full scope of the injury today.

Sometimes things don’t make sense But you just roll with the punches and take the positives from it The Redbull Straight rhythm on a 2stroke had me so damn excited I’m so disappointed I’m unable to participate today So many people played such a massive role in pulling this project off for me Can’t thank @pcoater_shane enough without him zero chance this was possible @dantruman101 thanks for being there and having my back at whatever needs to be handled you have no understanding of the word hesitation! whatever’s possible or damn near impossible you just get err done I slightly over jumped into the next transition nothing un normal but my suspension went metal to metal and I hurt my ankle I’m seeing an ankle specialist this morning. Will update when I have more info and a plan of action 2️⃣2️⃣
