The Mini Major by SEVEN at Milestone MX is fast approaching on October 25-28 and we’ve decided to do a few look back posts to get even more stoked for the good times to come. With no other event like it, Milestone MX becomes a literal dreamland for these youngsters all weekend – on and off the track. This year we’re expecting around 1,000 racers that will all take over the grounds as their parents try and chase them and their race buddies around!
Beginning our look backs, we are diving back to the first year of the TWMX Mini Major where the idea came to fruition. With a lot more youngsters showing up to enter than we anticipated, it was non-stop fun from start to finish. Let’s check out a few memorable topics and images below and reminisce.
Every once in a while you run into people that are just simply inspirational. Young Carson Fiske is a shining example. Born without his left forearm and hand, Carson has not let this stop him from riding and racing his dirt bike. In fact, we shot a photo of him and his dad hugging after he won a moto before we even realized he did so with one hand on the bars! He’s still ripping, but we featured him in the magazine back in 2015 after meeting him and being so inspired. We need to hit him up to see if he’ll be joining us this year…Follow his Instagram: @carsonfiske51
What’s the best way to capture the event through a youngin’s eyes? Throw them your GoPro and have them shoot some photos all day! We gave SoCal mini ripper Talon Hawkins the task since he’s always having a blast and below are a few fun photos from the eye of the young racer. Follow him nowadays, and he’s grown into a full-size mini ripper who will line up to contest for wins this year! Instagram: @talon71
It takes a long time to bust into the big leagues, but the talent of the elite riders isn’t hard to spot at a young age. Enter Dilan Schwartz, a quiet and humble mini ripper that showed up and killed it aboard his father-tuned KTM. With speed, good style, a great attitude and solid results at our Mini Major and other major events, Dilan found himself with a Team Green Kawasaki ride the next year and has been ripping since. Shimoda and Vohland GoPro Onboard
Did you watch the Monster Energy Cup last weekend? Yea? Then you are very familiar with Max Vohland and Jo Shimoda as they both won their classes in front of a packed Las Vegas house. Just a few years back, Shimoda was on a KTM with much less backing (and kicking butt – watch the video below!) He now has a coveted position with the GEICO Honda squad on a big bike and has his eyes set on a promising pro career. His GoPro counterpart Max Vohland is also on the rise riding for the KTM Orange Brigade crew, and is confirmed in for this year’s race. Can he keep his momentum going and score a big win at the Mini Major? Hopefully it will go smoother than this moto below where he crashes, burns his leg while stuck under another bike, then gets up to charge through the pack! Press play…
