On Saturday evening during the 2018 MXGP of Belgium at Lommel, the roster of riders selected to represent Belgium for the 2018 Motocross of Nations was announced to the public. The three-rider line-up will have Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing’s Clement Desalle in the MXGP division, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing MXGP’s Jeremy Van Horebeek in the Open division, and Kemea Yamaha Official’s Jago Geerts in the MX2 division. Should something happen to the three selected riders between now and October, the team has tapped Standing Construct KTM’s Kevin Strijbos and Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing’s Julien Lieber as reserves.

Desalle and Van Horebeek have both represented Team Belgium at past Motocross of Nations events and both riders helped take the win at the 2013 race in Germany. This will be the first time that Geerts has represented Belgium at the event.

Belgium is one of the more successful countries in the history of the Motocross of Nations, as the Red Knights have claimed the Chamberlain Trophy fifteen times. Since 2000, Team Belgium has finished on the podium fifteen times.

The 2018 Motocross of Nations will take place at RedBud Track n Trail in Southern Michigan on October 6th and 7th. This will be the first time in eight years that the event has taken place in the United States and the first time it has been held at RedBud, a track widely considered to be one of the best in the country.
