2018 Supercross Purse Totals For Top Finishers

Sums For Anderson, Musquin & Tomac

2018 LAS VEGAS SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

One topic that we often hear discussed in the sport is the purse payout to racers from the race organizers. There's no denying that riders at the top levels of the sport are paid quite well by motorcycle manufacturers, apparel brands, energy drinks, and other associated sponsors, but purse money from races make up very little of their income (the same cannot be said for privateers, as many often rely on purse money).

During Saturday night’s Las Vegas Supercross finale, we noticed a huge uptick in searches about just how much a rider makes in purse money from each event. Before the start of the season the FIM, AMA, and Feld Motorsports released a breakdown of the money paid to riders in the 450 class at each race along with the money that is awarded to those that finish in the top-twenty of the championship standings.

With this in mind, we decided to total up how much Jason Anderson, Marvin Musquin, and Eli Tomac made in purse money and championship payouts from the promoters over the course of the season. Now we must be clear, these figures do not include the bonus money from their sponsors or teams, which are seldom made public and would bring the totals into the millions. As you’ll see below, it pays to be at the front of the pack.
