The 2018 Trans Am Vet Classic was one for the books, as hundreds of vet racers came out to Glen Helen Raceway for a weekend of racing and good times. Thanks to some scattered showers leading up to the event, and Glen Helen's track crew, the all-new track layout made for some exciting racing all weekend. And with legends like Jeremy McGrath and Ryan Villopoto putting in motos, the excitement from racers and spectators was felt throughout the weekend.Ryan Villopoto made his Vet Class debut at the 2018 Trans Am, and did so in dominating fashion. The newly crowned Vet Classic champion dominated the 30+ Pro class aboard his YZ450F, as he won each of his three motos with a sizable lead. Not too many doubted the nine-time AMA National Champion's speed, it was still wicked to see RV line back up on the gate and snag some more wins.
The Clydesdale class provided some of the most enjoyable racing at the Vet Classic. With 23 racers lined up on the gate, the Clydesdale class was literally the largest class of the event. That’s right… 23 riders weighing in at 220-pounds or more, that's at least 5,060 pounds on the starting line. After fighting off an unlisted rider repping Krispy Kreme, Jared Minor won each of the three motos and took home the overall. The top three went home with some sweet custom trophies and some even sweeter Krispy Kreme donuts.
TWMXRS regular, Sean Lipanovich, showed up to the 2018 TransAm Vet Classic to battle with the younger Vet racers in the 25+ Expert class, and also compete in the Wiseco 2-Stroke Open class. After some exceptional rides, Sean managed to get it done and dominate both the 25+ Pro and Wiseco 2-Stroke Open classes. Despite hi sweep both classes with six moto wins, Sean expressed that the highlight of his weekend was lining up against Jeremy McGrath in the Two-Stroke Open class.
