Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy’s night at the 2019 Glendale Supercross came to a sudden end during his heat race. A mistake caused Savatgy to crash and NBC cameras were at his side as he talked with the Alpinestars Mobile Medical unit staff. We then reached out to Monster Energy Kawasaki, who confirmed that Savatgy had sustained a concussion. Due to the strict concussion protocol at the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross Series, the 450 rookie rider was benched for the remainder of the night.
UPDATE JANUARY 15TH | After talking with people in Savatgy’s inner circle, we learned that the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider was back on the bike Tuesday and plans to race Anaheim Two. However, the 450 class rookie will need to pass the baseline concussion test and talk with the medical staff before he is cleared to race Saturday.
