After a quick run up to California’s Bay Area, the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross Series is set to return to the southern part of the state for the final time this year, the 2019 San Diego Supercross. Petco Park has been a welcome addition to the series schedule, as the open-air baseball stadium often allows for an interesting layout and its location in downtown brings some added excitement to the event.
SoCal is known for sunshine, but the forecast for Saturday shows heavy rain throughout the day. It’ll be interesting to see how the track handles the moisture, especially since the San Diego soil is often hard packed and slick. Will it absorb the water well or are we in for a true mud race?
Because this is a baseball stadium, Dirt Wurx will build a diamond-style layout that will feature a mix of short and long lanes, two sections of whoops, a stadium-length rhythm section, all of which will be tied together by hairpin turns.
