The idea behind the build was to rebuild a ten-year-old RM-Z 450 into a budget dune machine. The motor was rebuilt to stock specs for reliability. A Moto Tassinari Air4orce intake boot and Yoshimura RS-4 exhaust were installed for broader power and improved over-rev. The forks and shock were re-valved and re-sprung by Dirt Fiend Racing to MX/Dune specific specs. The rear tire is an AMS Sand Snake 10 paddle for maximum bite and traction for the soft sands of Glamis. The front tire is a Goldentyre 216AA Fatty, which offers a wider footprint along with a taller profile to help keep the front end floating through the sand. Both are mounted to a TUSK Impact wheelset for budget, looks, and performance. A Tusk rear steel sprocket was used for more durability in sandy conditions, along with a DID O-ring chain. The build was finished off with Mika handlebars, ODI lock-on grips, Acerbis Flo yellow/black plastic kit, Zilla custom graphics, and Zilla frame grip tape. The owner is an ex-quad racer, so a custom "Thumber" throttle kit was also installed.
