Corona, Calif. (March 14, 2011) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett kept his podium streak alive as he finished third during the 15-lap main event at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. With four rounds in the books, Baggett has stood on the podium after every race of the AMA Supercross Lites, Eastern Region series. His teammate Dean Wilson overcame a tough start to finish just outside the top-five in sixth.
Baggett came out swinging in Indianapolis as he earned his second-career heat race win. He continued to show off his speed as he earned the holeshot and led half the race before a small mistake forced a crash. He got back on the bike quickly in third and finished the race with his fourth podium of the season.
“I’m always disappointed with myself when I don’t win, but this one hurts a little since I was leading,” said Baggett. “I felt good all night, but I made a small mistake that cost me the lead. I felt like I can walk away from the race with a good lesson learned and I’ll be going after another win next week.”
Wilson continued to show his determination and perseverance as he overcame a tough start in the main event and worked his way through the pack to finish sixth.
“It wasn’t the best race and I’m a little bit frustrated with myself,” said Wilson. “Every week I want to be on the box, but I haven’t been riding to my potential. I’m going to be working hard this week and maybe I can get back up front to race with the those guys.”
As the halfway point approaches for the East Coast riders, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team heads to Everbank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. for Round 5 of the AMA Supercross Lites, Eastern Region series. Baggett currently sits in second in the championship standings with 85 points, just six points down from first. Teammate Wilson is not far behind in fourth with 75 points.
